What would you do?

My son was at the park yesterday and he was playing on the play equipment and he comes up to me crying saying nobody wants to be his friend. He's an only child who happens to have Autism, so social interaction is sometimes hard for him but he wants friends so bad. After I calm him down and we play tag on the field he then tells me one of the kids said bad words to him, but he didnt say what.

My question is, lets say you heard the kid saying bad words to your kid, how do you address that? Also, I constantly hear f- bombs from children on the play ground, and cussing in general. From my assumption, a lot of the kids's parents may not have english as their first language, we have a lot of migrant farm workers in our town, so there would definitely be a language barrier for me and also they may not be completely aware of what their child is saying.

It was so heartbreaking to see him get upset. I'm just wondering what I could do or say next time.

My daughter is going into first grade and I’m literally dreading the language she will start being exposed to. She doesn’t know what cuss words are since we never use them but I’m sure it’s going to come up soon.

@ekko @m0mmy @vergeenya thank you for your input. I feel like just being lovingly direct about telling the child we don't say those words on the playground is a good start. And I guess if I end up encountering a parent ill just wing it🙃 I don't want to come yelling at a kid but at the same time its not cool for 7 and 8 year old to being saying fuck you at the playground.

I snap 🤷🏽‍♀️ Some girls were cussing and giggling as they broke toys and left pieces all over the playground a few months back. One looked up and said “oh my parents tolerate me using curse words” 🤨 I said, “Well I don’t and neither does my child. When you’re not home, you should use sweet words around other kids” 🤷🏽‍♀️ whoop! Please tell your mama to find me

Thats a hard situation I would just try to see who in the playground before I go in it maybe find a mom who has a kids to go with me so my kid has a play buddy before the playground friends and I been into a playground around me that the kid was like 5 with no parent at all that was throwing sticks at my baby and older I came up to him and was like we dont throw sticks a mt others and then took my kids and left approaching the child is a bad idea always ask for the parent 1st sadly some kids go out on thier own thats when I found myself approaching the child then felt bad after words the language is bad too but as long as your kid knows is bad and dont use it and knows he is sooo much better then the words that others choose to use he cant control them but he can be sure he is better then thier words.

If I heard kids speaking like that then I would say something to them like “those types of words are not okay to use on the playground” or something to that effect. I am used to having to reprimand kids so I’m comfortable with it, whereas I know other people feel weird about saying things to other people’s kids.

That’s hubby. I’m like 🤷🏽‍♀️ they’ve got to hear it from someone and if I have to be that voice, I’ll deal with the repercussions.

@m0mmy, It’s not okay. And truthfully, if my kid was saying it when I wasn’t around then I would want someone to call him on it too. There was kid, maybe 6-7, in our neighborhood who was riding his bike with a few other kids and he was dropping the f-bomb loudly. I said something to him after the first couple of times. He kept doing it. So I pointed to his house and said, “I know that’s where you live and if you keep saying those words I’m going to go right over there and tell your mother.” Didn’t hear a peep after that. 🤷🏼‍♀️
