Fml 🤦♀️ now that im home and have internet. I am wicked irritated. I went to walmart today to just grab my daughters school supplies and ended up parking right next to my sisters ex best friend. Didnt know it was her till she got out of the car to say hi. And i spot a little one in the back seat in the absolutely wrong car seat.
She was 3 in an infant carrier, her poor head was angled odd and legs hanging off, not secured by the harness of the seat, just the carseat strapped in by the seatbelt.
My first instinct was to ask if i could quickly run in and buy the little one the correct seat. But her uncle and aunt were already back outside and they wanted to get going. So i pulled my daughters seat out and gave it to them with the manual.
I was then informed that the little girl does supposedly have the correct carseat but that her parents just didnt want to take it out of their truck. 🤦♀️. Then you dont let your child leave.
I just couldnt let them leave with her in the seat like that. I was so angry. I get not being able to afford a seat and going around like that in an emergency only. But they were taking the little girl to the fair! Also my county has carseat programs regardless of your income.
I said my goodbyes and helped show them to install the seat from the manual. Fitted the seat correct for the little girl and then i went inside to buy my daughter a new seat she could pick out.
My dad told me i was a karen and that i shouldnt have done anything.
But how do you just let something like that go?

Same. I'm hoping they get rid of the infant carries. I had to resist the urge to take it completely but it's not mine to take. Honestly it's the entirety of the adults in her life. Her parents, her aunts and uncle. All failed her. I got the feeling her 1 aunt just didn't care. She didn't care till I mentioned she could lose her license for having the child in the improper seat..
A lot of people are super ignorant. My husbands step dad brought his 3 year old grand daughter to my house before in an infant carrier and I was in disbelief. He really had no idea tho and the parents never left a seat he just had that one laying around. He raised his kids in Trinidad and car seat safety wasn’t a thing, may not even be now. I feel like car seat safety should be a required course while pregnant because the ignorance is real and it’s honestly because a lot of people don’t talk about it.
They really are. My in laws and my parents were clueless. My mom fought me tooth and nail when I was just trying to educate her bc she got custody of my nephew in 2014, and she tried flipping him forward at 6mo. So I had to go to my dad and educate him. That worked. My inlaws were much easier to educate.
But this little girls aunt and uncle said oh it was all we could find it's no big deal 😲. Like no if you are driving a child around it is your damn responsibility to educate yourself.
I did! Shit I started educating myself when my best friend told me she was expecting. Bought her the best infant carrier I could find.
I really wish they would do a class during pregnancy.

Thank you. Even if I couldn't have afforded it I'm lucky enough to have multiple seats for my daughter. And honestly I'd have any payment in my acct bounce to protect even 1 little.

I can't take it anymore! Haley (yes my 1mth old and no I wasn't able to go through this "joy" of nursing my older daughter, Molly) has been screaming non stop for 6hrs! All she wants to do is eat and I can't have her attached to me all day, everyday! She has wanted to eat every hr on the hr for the past 3hrs! I put her in her room so I don't scream at her but I just can't take it!
I am honestly glad you ran into them and decided to do what you did, the terrible things that could of happened to that poor little girl because of everyone being careless. I really hope they continue to use the car seat you gave them and that not only your aunt or uncle but her parents educate themselves before something they can’t take back happens
