@mydaughterismylittlepumpkinspice, ya I mean coming from the place of a single mom nothing infuriates me more than the fact that my sons father is a baby back bitch. my son doesn’t remember or ask about him but when the day comes, I will answer age appropriately but I’m not going to talk nicely about him at all. He doesn’t deserve it. My mom always made excuses for my father, my grandparents did too. They would all buy extra gifts to hide and then bring out when he came around like they were from him to make him look like this caring person. I’d rather have just known the truth early on than think he was some great guy who just turned into a monster. I don’t think it’s fair to vent in front of children either though.
your doing the right thing I am like you! My oldest hasn’t seen or spoken to his dad since he was like 5 or 6. He was in and out his life since birth his dad lived in North Carolina and I lived in Toronto. When he’d ask about his dad when he was younger because he very much remembered him I’d give him age appropriate answers. He’s 14 now and he knows the truth, his dads family has tried reaching out to him on Instagram but my son ain’t for it he’s not stupid, they never called him not once never sent him nothing not a birthday gift or a box of diapers despite them being multimillionaires but see he has an Instagram and can talk now.
Children will figure that out on their own. I hate when parents put their children in the middle of adult situations. I had a tug of war effect growing up, hearing nasty things about my parent and it backfired royally.
My mom was never really present she abandoned her family one day and never looked back leaving my dad to raise three children all by himself but he never ever bashed her. He said there was always no reason to actually speak negatively about her because her actions spoke for itself. Same goes for my oldest biological father. He hasn't been present since she was 4yrs old and I will never down talk him to her because him not being apart of her life and missing everything that matters to her growing up speaks volumes on its own. My dad gave me the choice to decide what I wanted to do regarding my relationship with my mom and I'll do the same with my oldest. To this day I don't HATE my mother I just very much disliked her selfishness. Hate is just a very strong word that I do not and won't teach.

Fathers who don’t prioritize their kids shouldn’t be surprised when their kids grow up hating them.

They also won’t let their children be taken advantage of or have fake images of bad people.
