Therapy and this book really has me finding out more and more about myself. I learned that I function best in chaos and stress. That’s how I feel most safe. Why? Because that’s all I’ve ever known from toddler age until now. I always have to have things going on, a hectic schedule, always doing and going. Sitting with just my thoughts in silence scares tf out of me. Just being still scares me because that means I have time to think, time to feel, time to be face to face with the things that hurt me the most. So my new challenge is meditation 🧘‍♀️and learning to be in peace without having to find something to do. And being comfortable in it.

Do you use an app for meditation? I use 10% Happier and really like it. I believe I can get you a link for 6 months or a year free, but it's cool if you already have something.

I think Sharon Salzberg could be helpful for you. She's an icon in meditation, but shr has had an extremely chaotic childhood. Her mom died when she was 8, she was bounced from relative to relative, her dad was an alcoholic who was in an institution and later died by suicide. She knows pain. She says without meditation, she'd be dead. She just stumbled upon it at the age of 16 on a community college bulletin board.

@dontblockmesis-imjustspeakingfacts ugh, I think they stopped doing the free for essential workers thing, it says the link was moved or deleted. Let me ask my husband to poke around. He knows a lot of meditation teachers/ sites and may be able to get a link or recommend another good site.

A lot of the better meditation teachers are on several sites/apps. There is a free trial on Ten Percent Happier but it may only be a week or two now. I will get back to you! Meditation is incredibly transformative. It helps you learn to respond and not just react to things that happen. It helps you learn self compassion and being able to skillfully just start over when something doesn't happen the way you wanted it to. To live with less judgment. I could go on and on.

Meditation has been an absolute lifesaver for me. When I listened to Sharon Salzberg's "The Training Ground" I knew it would change my life. I like Jeff Warren a lot also, he's funny and very realistic. I was listening to a meditation by him last night and he was talking about how we were just focusing on "sucking marginally less at concentration"
