I second getting a suite if you can’t get an airbnb. Bring something to pin the curtains down. If your child uses a sound machine, bring it. The constant on and off from the hotel a/c unit always messes with our sleep.

Second considering an Airbnb or something if possible. Definitely get a suite if you are doing a hotel. In my opinion having a door between you makes a big difference. We bring the white noise machine that we use at home. Wear them out as much as possible

If going the hotel route ALWAYS get a suite anything smaller is way too cramped. The more space they have the happier they'll be imo. Separate living room, separate bedrooms, open space is the way to go and my kids have a blast! Now as far the dark room i second try closing the curtains to the best of your abilities. I know some curtains in the high floor suites don't close all the way over though so maybe you can talk to the front desk about that ahead of time.

My kids do well in hotels..but like @jenx said, close the curtains. Bring clothes pins! Also just cover any lights that would be an issue, alarm clocks etc.

My kids do fine in hotels but I’m not trying to go to bed at 7pm 😂 Sitting there in the dark trying to be quiet is not my cup of tea.

My tip is... don’t do it 😂 We always get an Airbnb if we can because being in a hotel room with kids is hell.

I have seen people use the pants hangers from closets to pin the curtains shut. I would take duct tape or electrical tape to cover up little LED lights and stuff.
