How do u ladies feel about masks on kids all day at school while playing sports etc? I’m not an anti masker in general but I am sort of anti mask for small children in school 5-7 hours a day. What are we teaching our children right now? That physical touch is dangerous? Don’t hug/high five cause u could get sick and die? What’s happening to this world right now? Thoughts. I hope this doesn’t make some think different of me but I needed to see others thoughts. Open for a good discussion here

I just want to add that if a child is exhibiting fear about that virus or you are finding it hard to explain to them there are plenty of resources out there now to help. My daughter watched the sesame street specials at the beginning of the pandemic, there's "operation ouch" on netflix that did a special, several books and websites as well....like a said before kids adapt very easily but if the adult in their life has a poor attitude about wearing the masks then they will likely mimick that behavior as well. There are studies out there that were done during the summer about mask wearing and exercise as well.

@jenx, yes I know they do that’s why I do make sure to not say too much around them regarding some things. They def know most of what is happening but again they are young, 6&8 so I pay extra attention when discussing things with my husband when they are around!

I agree with this. Kids will mirror a parent's stress and anxiety, too. I tell my daughter all the time I really respect how she's plugging away like her great grandparents did during WWII. That this is going to end, the vaccine is in sight, we're more than halfway through. That there's so much we can do. Trying to bolster her spirits.

My kiddo is almost 9, so we've just been very open about the science and what is recommended to stay virus free. As we learn more as a world about this virus, we adjust practices. We don't have to be afraid when we go out, but we wear a good quality mask with a filter, we always have hand sanitizer, we stay outdoors, don't go into big crowds. We've shown her the virus trends (our state has an amazing covid website) and how our area has more virus activity than my mom's county, so we adjust what we do here. My mom's county has such low viral activity you don't need to use many precautions.
We just teach facts and her stress level is pretty low. But she's almost 9. I really feel for all you mamas with really little ones who don't understand.
