Apparently I’m a “bad mom”.

I tell my children if someone takes something of yours/is bullying you/ is trying to intimidate you, you ask nice twice, and then you can take it back by force/make them shut up. Even if it requires physical force. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I talk to my kiddo a lot about self defense because people are so messed up. Obviously that there's a total difference between a slap fight with another kid on the playground and some stranger trying to grab her. I've told her to fight and scream like hell and to fight to maim with a stranger. Go for the eyes, go for the side of the knee. If they can't see and can't walk, you can get away.

She's almost 9 and has good judgment, it sounds over the top, but you hear too much about creepy people and trafficking and stuff. You can't let them get you in a van.

Like I said, I'm pretty peaceful, but my immediate reaction is to mess you up if you jump out at me or grab me. My mom jumped around a corner once when I was a teenager to scare me and I dug my nails into her face and pulled before I realized it was her. Fight is my response.

That was kind of a tangent. Sorry.

@monstermommax3, good. I’m sure all your training would kick in if something happened to you. I’m glad you educated yourself :)

Have you ever considered enrolling in like a self defense class? Maybe it’ll install more confidence in yourself?

This is how I was raised my mom always told me if someone was going to try to kidnap me/rape me/kill me...whatever... I had to make sure I fought till I couldn’t fight no more. She said that an easy target was someone who didn’t fight because they got scared so I had to make them give up or earn their victim. It sounds horrible but I’m glad that she raised me like that.

We are starting her in Martial arts and self defense at five. (That’s the youngest they start around us)

My mom always told us, "I don't want you to ever start a fight, but if someone starts one with you, I expect you to finish it."

I live by that advice even today. I'm pretty peaceful, but I am not a doormat in any way.

My mother used to tell us not to show face for any school fights so I was always afraid of confrontations. Even if I were in the right she’d probably beat me for it. I had things stolen from me and I caught the beatings🥺

It sucked! I was too shy.

I was a doormat. I never want my children to take what I took. So they are told to give two warnings.

I was raised to never start something but to always finish it. And that’s what I do, I have a smart ass mouth but if you touch me or my family I’m putting an end to it. My children will be raised the same, if I’m not around then I want them to know they can defend themselves/put an end to a situation without worry that I’ll be mad....if I’m there I will gladly end that situation for them.

We had a long talk when Vi was a baby and decided that bullying verbally can be just as damaging as bullying physically and if after her using words twice the other kid doesn’t stop she can lay them out.

I agree with it. I think verbal bullying is just as bad that’s why I’m glad I have/had a smart mouth even when I was young because I would always be quick to snark back and worst case scenario my mouth always wrote checks that my hands would cash.

i agree with this. Jerri knows that if a kid hits her and she sticking up for herself she won't get in trouble

@alishap1212, 🤷🏼‍♀️ if a kid is bullying my kid, blocking her, taking her things, she is allowed to use force.

using your voice or walking is actually being the bigger person . I would never want my daughters to lay their hand on anyone else nor would I want anyone to lay hand on her

Using force just cause more problems in the end

I was the bigger person. I tried ending my life because of the daily torment when I was 13.
