I seriously need help right now and yes we are talking to doctors about our son's issue. just want to see if anyone has gone through a similar issue or knows of anyone who has. My son is five he's a little on the smaller side doesn't have a big appetite and it's gotten worse in the last few months. We all just got over the stomach bug he actually had to go to the hospital for fluids he looked horrible. I think it hit my husband more that he needs to gain more weight and he started calling doctors that we already take him to and now taking it more seriously. They told us he's not average for his age he's like three and a half feet and only 35 lbs. He hasn't gained weight in over 10 months. Doctor said if he doesn't eat and gain more weight in the next 3 months they're going to have someone come here every night to put a feeding tube down his throat. Also if he doesn't gain weight in the next 3 months his growth is going to be horribly stunted. I mean he seriously won't eat you can put anything in front of him and he will not eat it, he'll take a couple bites and that's it or he'll smell something he likes and then he says he wants it and then two minutes later he goes no I don't want it. We are at our Wit's end trying to figure out what is wrong with him now we're thinking about taking him to a GI doctor. he is on a medication for his ADHD and ODD that is an appetite suppressant and we did just up the dose a few months ago that's the only thing we can think of but I don't know what else it could be. About 6 months ago he saw his grandmother's boyfriend basically die right in front of him, his grandmother ditched us with helping the kids, so he doesn't see her anymore so I'm wondering if it's depression too?? Im so scared. All I do now is think what its goimg to be like to bury my son.

Definitely talk to a doctor and possibly a child therapist. So many things can cause food aversions in children. He may have undetected allergies or digestion issues, he may have sensory issues with textures, my friend's daughter absolutely hates the feeling of being "full". She always stops eating so she doesn't feel that way.
Try to get to the bottom of it with some specialists. There has to be a reason either physical, psychologically or neurologically. Lots of prayers headed your way for your son. Possibly an appetite stimulant. That doctor was very rude, if he had to have a feeding tube, it wouldn't be out down his throat every night, it is an outpatient procedure to have one inserted in the stomach and they get removed easily when you don't need it anymore. He could possibly even have issues where he has trouble/doesn't like to poop and not eating much means pooping less. It could be so many things and maybe several things. It's going to be okay, he needs the right team of help.
Love and prayers sent your way, mama. <3

I would recommend a psychologist. My youngest has adhd, odd, and anxiety and is on meds too and he doesn't want to eat much. Lately he's been a lot better but i was told theres a medication to try to help boost appetite. Maybe that's something you can also look into.

I think these are kids that marijuana edibles could help immensely. I am a HUGE medical marijuana supporter. We had so many older folks in the nursing home waste away and I know a little edible would have saved them. Meds have side effects and then you take meds to counteract those side effects and it's a snowball before you know it. :(

Sounds like a sensory issue to me. My daughter also has a food aversion.

I would look into a form of edible that works for him, if it's gotten that bad. I have my medical card and it helps me alot. Also, pediasure, seriously, I don't think my kid would be alive without pediasure. We get the grow and gain version in chocolate and he likes it, drinks it every morning with his breakfast.
