Did anyone ever get a tummy tuck done? Did you have to pay for it or was it covered by insurance? How much was the procedure and what was the healing process like? Sorry for all the questions lol. I just saw a surgeon today and they would charge me $16,000 for a tummy tuck and Liposuction would have to be done as well to remove the fat. I wish the insurance could cover it or partial but I know it is almost impossible too, even though I would have proof for reasons that I feel would be good for the insurance to cover it. The fact that my c section scar busted open after I had my daughter and me getting rashes under the stomach area so I cannot properly treat my c section scar and gets yeast infections there and sweat. It just sucks that the place I went to doesn’t take insurance. The thing is when I tried another place last year the insurance rejected me. I feel like I am losing my patience and want to get this done. Not sure what to do.

@xryztalroze, thanks for the info I really appreciate it! Sometimes when I call the insurance and ask for providers for an appointment I would need, most of the numbers they give me are wrong numbers or the doctor is no longer working in that location. 😂 I don’t know why that happens but I will try. If they tell me no or give me a hard time then I will have to see what I can do next.

You're welcome. Of the insurance reps are giving you and info you can also ask for their website and look up in network and out of network providers. You can also call around to different providers you want to consider and see if they take your insurance and if they are taking new patients. Best of wishes!!!

Contact your insurance company directly and inquire about coverage for this procedure and under what circumstances they will cover it. Then, ask for a list of providers listed with the insurance company. You can also ask if they have providers and discounts if they don't have actual coverage. Best of wishes and hope you feel better fast!

@briannalynn547, $12k is a better price! It’s a shame that the surgeon around here is so pricy but he said that since covid the prices have gone up.

@another.shot.of.whiskey, I wish they could get it done like that but the surgeon I saw today focuses on one area at a time and the other surgeon I saw last year would have done the tummy tuck and breast but that was the one the insurance rejected. When I tried to call them again a few months later the secretary forgot to call me back. A part of me wishes I could call them again and see if they try again with the insurance but I feel like the secretary will forget to get back to me. I almost just feel like getting it done faster and around here lol. This is so confusing. Lol

@leonardsquared, that does sound good it’s just so hard to lose weight. Before the pandemic I would do a lot of walking when I had to pick up and drop off my son to school. It would be like 4 miles a day of walking and drinking more water and I wouldn’t loose any weight. I have a lot of fat on my stomach. I feel like most of the weight is on the stomach and breast. My metabolism is so bad. I used to be able to lose weight no problem in the past but since I had my daughter has been so hard.

@massgirl, aww I wish her luck as well with this! It really sucks when the insurance doesn’t want to cover anything. The insurance gave me a hard time when I needed an umbilical hernia surgery. I got rejected like 4 times until they approved it but it sucked to keep traveling around to different doctors. That was so time consuming taking the train or taxi lol.

@fairykarmamomma, I wish they could pay for a panini at least but the insurance gives me a hard time with that and says they don’t really pay for cosmetic surgery. Good luck with the surgery and that sounds awesome that you are able to pay half price! 😃

@another.shot.of.whiskey, that is the bad thing the doctors don’t jot anything down. I had to get yeast infection cream a few times even from the gyn but nobody puts it down on paper. Even when I had a nurse come help me the first 2 weeks of pregnancy to help treat the c section back in 2019, the insurance was like there isn’t enough proof when I have the paper work. It really sucks. I also feel like I am losing my patience. I definitely want to get a breast reduction as well.

I know the feeling honey! I had chronic back pain listed for years but they didn't put "large breasts associated with chronic back pain" wording is everything. My new doc added large breasts to my chart but I had no patience for the pain at all.
Also random but the more you get done at once, the cheaper it is usually since they wont have to knock you out again or spend time on another operation. In my area a tummy tuck is around $9,500 a breast reduction 7,000-8,500 and lipo is 1,400 per area. All three of the procedures I had together was only 15,500 for a complete mommy makeover. I'd look into that! The healing is horrible though!

Your insurance would probably cover a weight loss surgery. Why not go that route and just get in shape?

You could try to apply for something like care credit. It would cover up to whatever amount you qualify for allow you to pay it off in payments. I'm sure you could work out a payment arrangement with the surgical center for the balance as well. You'll have to make a few phone calls and see what your options are.

I had it done and a breast reduction (I was a G). Look up your insurance qualifications! My insurance would of paid for my breast reduction after 2 years of doctors recording back pain.. Ect but I had it recorded for a year and I couldn't take anymore so I paid out of pocket for my reduction, lipo and tummy tuck.
Does your doctor have documentation of the rashes and creams you have to use? That's evidence to get it done but you'd need to mention it EVERY time you go to the doctor and ask them to make notes! Hopefully your waiting period wouldnt be long

I don't have any experience with it but my sister was supposed to have one done because she had weight loss surgery. Her insurance also doesn't cover it so she was planning to shop around for different prices and go on a payment plan. She's in nursing school right now so I think her plan is on hold. Good luck! Insurance sucks here 😑

I’m in a similar boat. I only qualify for a panni, I have to pay the surgeon cash before procedure to turn the panni into a full fledged tummy tuck. It’s because insurance doesn’t cover reinforcing your muscles and fascia, just the skin removal where it’s a problem like that. I just got approved to move forward as long as my weight stays stable until April, then I’ll find out how much my out of pocket will be. I’m hoping under $5k
