And for my vaccine ladies;
And for my vaccine ladies;
I was at the VA yesterday for an appointment and got nosy about a staff meeting being held in the open. Was told that the big rollout of the Covid vaccine for older Veterans was being held at our location starting today. Was told that the trial is not over and that the first rounds of vaccine everyone is getting right now is still part of the vaccine trial. Asked the two staff I was talking to if they got theirs and they said,"Yes". Thought I'd share in case anyone was interested. I was told that the current vaccine, though approved for use, was approved for emergency administration and the trials are ongoing. I personally won't get the vaccone right now, especially not while pregnant, but for those of you who plan to I hope it goes well for you and I hope we get more solid information soon, bc the ever changing recommendations make me dizzy.

That information is not true. The vaccines being distributed are not part of the trial. They are still conducting trials, mainly starting ones on children, but the trials for normal and healthy adults concluded before vaccine approval.

That's what I thought but these two women were employees of the VA and said that the reason the VA had not made it mandatory for them as employees to get it yet, was because it is in a continued trial and that it had only been approved out of emergency need.

Yeah, they are incorrect. I’ve been involved in some state-level discussions with HHS regarding the vaccines and that’s absolutely false.

Please will you share some good resources for us then? I'd certainly feel better knowing solid information and am not sure what to believe. My angst is getting the best of me today. 😟

I’m honestly not trying to be rude, but it’s not my responsibility to do research for others. I’m sharing my experience in attending sessions and presentations given by my state’s chief medical officer and department of health and human services. I’m busily preparing my house for a baby, but I’m sure you can find things on google. Again, i don’t mean this rudely. I just don’t have time to research for other people. I’ve spent hours doing it for myself already.

Fair enough. We all choose to share differently. You're def getting close and I hope baby has a safe arrival!

I got the Moderna vaccine last week (Wednesday). I had a sore arm and got kinda run down the next day, which is my usual response to a vaccine. I'm a vaxxer. I get a yearly flu vaccine. Within 2 days I felt nothing at all. I'm extremely confident in this vaccine and getting it to decrease my personal risk of severe disease and the risk for the whole population. My husband got it also. Our kiddo will be vaccinated as soon as it is available. We want to get back to normalcy also, this past year was pretty much stolen from us as far as travel, Cub Scout activities, and family get togethers. I want to move on! :)

Thank you for your open reply. I really appreciate it. We are all up to date on vaccines except the flu shot. When I was in the military it was mandatory every year and I would have severe reactive illness after receiving it. I have had it only once since getting out and had the same negative reaction, so stopped. Have had the flu twice in my life and it was far less severe and short lived than the shot illness. But, that's a totally different thing than Covid to me and I definitely want to make the most responsible decision. I appreciate having you to talk to about things on here. Thank you for you honest feedback and confidence building.

any time! My sister has a history of anaphylaxis to bee stings, so she is worried about getting one. My cousin has a lot of severe allergies and she is an RN. I will keep everyone updated when she gets hers, she plans to have her epipen with her but she wants the Covid vax more than she is worried about a reaction. When my cousin's goes okay, my sister will be more comfortable. I will keep everyone posted on how theirs go.
Edit: my cousin got her first dose 3 weeks ago with no issues, second dose is this Thursday.
