Today we are at Vanderbilt trying to get an autism diagnosis for Oliver. All his therapists say they believe he is autistic.

Getting an autism diagnosis so young will be extremely beneficial for Oliver if he is indeed on the spectrum.

I suspected at 13months that my daughter was autistic I was positive she was when she was 18 months but it took me fighting with doctors and therapists until she was 3 years old to get an official diagnosis.

If you want to talk or have any questions feel free to pm me. I have a lot of experience with autism since so many of my family members are on the spectrum. ( my daughter, my nephew, my mother just to name a few)

@jaquelinerachelle there's a lot of emotions that come with a new autism diagnosis. My sister cried when my nephew was diagnosed. I cried tears of relief when my daughter was diagnosed because I knew her diagnosis was the first step of getting her the services she needed.

My nephew has had his official diagnosis for 3.5 years and my daughter has had hers for 2.5 years, and they're both thriving and have come so far already.

My cousin's children are both autistic her son was diagnosed when he was 4 years old and her daughter was diagnosed when she was 9 years old, they're both now young adults and they're both now in college, dating, living independently and have part time jobs.

My mother is also autistic, and she is a nurse, married a wonderful man (my dad) and has 2 daughters.

I'm telling you all of this because it's important to know that an autism diagnosis doesn't mean that said autistic can't lead a happy fulfilled life and become a functioning member of society.
