Turkey advice please. I want to make a turkey(12.6lbs) with stuffing and bacon on top. Does the bacon go on right from the start? And does it stay on the entire time? Do I pack the turkey with stuffing or lightly fill it? 😅 This is my 2nd year making a turkey for Thanksgiving...help

Don't stuff the turkey, it makes it more dry. Or I think so anyway. I'd just make it in a casserole dish. If you HAVE to, you can put it in before you serve it. I personally always find it strange to scoop the stuffing outta the turkey ass. Honestly, I won't eat it if it's in the ass, I think it tastes weird...stewing in turkey butt juice all dang day. No thanks, Pyrex for me! 🤣

Thank you soooo much!!!! Any advice for the bacon?

I wouldn't put it on right at the beginning, just when it's almost done. Bacon doesn't take that long to cook in the oven.

I would highly recommend doing the stuffing in a separate casserole so the turkey doesn't dry out.

Lol my moms turkey always comes out moist and juicy even wen she’s stuffs it (I don’t eat the stuffing from turkey cuz she makes more in a separate dish ).. but what she does is constantly use the steel injector and injects the turkey with the juice from the pan every 1-2 hours and it comes out amazing

Dont stuff the turkey...not because it will dry it, but because it is not food safe at all. The stuffing NEVER gets to a food safe temp and this is the number one reason people get food poisoning from Thanksgiving

We’ve always stuffed our turkeys every year since I was a little kid and we’ve never had an issue. I’m 37 years old. That’s a lot of years 😂 I’ve actually never heard of it being a risk. My mom stuffs it then puts the remainder in a casserole dish, then she mixes them together because the stuffed part always comes out very moist and almost mushy.

. I don't, we call it dressing. I just know what everyone is talking about when they say stuffing. We use turkey or chicken broth instead of water, if you're want the turkey flavor, that's be much better for everyone.

@leonardsquared, dang I didn’t buy any broth. Good suggestion though

Yes ma'am! Just replace the water in the recipe with broth, it just adds a......idk. SOMETHIN! 🤷‍♀️🤣
