I don't know what to do with this... I feel bad for not talking to my son about his so called father. But I don't want to bring anything up and then this guy disappear AGAIN like he used to up till my son was 5. Constantly. Then he says shit like this. But next month or he'd be saying what an asshole I am.

Tbh I’d talk to your son and ask him he’s def old enough to make his own decision on this. My son is 13 his dad was in and out when he was younger and has not seen him since he was 5 hasn’t spoken to him since he was probably 6. My son knows about his dad and the reasons his dad is not around and has for a few years now.

Mines 6 his dad has never met him. He still tells the world it’s my fault that I’m the bad guy 🤷♀️ way I see it is if they really wanted it they would take us to court and get their rights. I wouldn’t do nothing else unless your son verbally says he wants to see his dad. Stability is essential for me and especially my child’s life. I will not put up with some half ass. If he wants to be a true father, then he would do so.

My son's father has taken me 2x and failed to show up each time. They don't want to be dads

My son is 13 and his dads always been there but “not” I mean he spends time with him and yeah he’s a good dad....but my sons old enough to see things he doesn’t like about his dad. And when we get into arguments he doesn’t want anything to do with him and I try to explain to him that’s his dad and yes mom and him have problems but he’s there when you need him. It was like that for awhile but it’s gotten better. His dad didn’t have the best life growing up and he was seeing that he was doing the same thing his dad was doing to him. Honestly I would talk to your son see how he feels he’s old enough to tell you.

My niece is 14 and doesn’t want anything to do with her dad. They are old enough to make that decision. Definitely talk to him and see what he wants to do. I bet you would be surprised with the outcome. Good luck mama

What's It To You?·
Honestly, I would just talk your son about how how he feels regarding the situation.
It's definitely a tough situation. I'll be there one day and I'm dreading it. I tell my oldest here and there that she does have more bio family but I don't go into depth because she's still young and has a hard time with emotions and processing everything. When I am contacted by bio fam, literally only after her bio gma passed away and never in the last almos 6 years before the passing (2018)(no contact for almost 8 years now), I'm civil and spill the beans regarding how their grandson/nephew/cousin/whatever hasn't seen/talked/ asked about her in x years and that I want them to respect my wishes for my daughter to decide for herself because stability is HUGE for me. Although her father did put me through a lot and walked out of her life I'll always support what she wants.
As a mother I feel we should always ask the opinions of the child involved because imo they do deserve to have a say. It's tough because we know what's been done and they may not know but we should respect them and what they want as well.
