What would you do: since June we haven’t been around family only my sister who also stays to herself and doesn’t go around a lot of people due to Covid. Well on Thursday we went to my sisters and my mom and grandma who don’t social distance and goes upon their life like Covid doesn’t exist came over. Well on Saturday my son started to say his throat hurt and was getting a slight cough, then Sunday same thing but his throat wasn’t hurting to bad. Fast forward to last night he started complaining that his head hurts really bad and I can tell he’s getting congested in his nose, he asked me for Tylenol because of his head hurting gave him some he laid down, This morning he gets up from school and his head still hurts and now he has a fever of 101.1. Would you get him tested for Covid if this was your child? Or would you just play it as a normal cold? Sorry I overthink everything and l think the absolute worse so I want to make sure im being realistic and not panicking.

It really could just be a virus, but it is good to get the covid test if you can.

I would have him tested.
Justgotaname ·
I would probably have him tested.
MassMomma16·
I would definitely get a test to be safe
Kayla ··
That’s what I’m doing I’m pretty sure it will be negative but I just don’t want to chance it and he does have it.

When I had covid and then gave it to my family. All 3 of us had completely different symptoms. Hubby didn't have symptoms almost a full week after I started having symptoms and our daughter developed symptoms 4 days after I first got sick.
It's definitely best to err on the side of caution when there is a global pandemic going on.

When you guys have Covid did you Separate your daughter into a different room to self isolate? How did you go about this all?
watz··
No there was absolutely no way that we could isolate from one another.
My daughter is autistic, and sensory seeking. She, constantly needs to be hugging me, or sitting in my lap etc 24/7. Even as I write this she is asleep snuggled up with me, with her head in my arm pit and her leg wrapped around me.
There was absolutely no way that we could have isolated from one another without causing her extreme stress and for her to interpret the situation as some kind of punishment.
There were a few scary moments during our family's covid experience. But the most terrifying part for me, was when my daughter developed a 102.5 fever.
I called the hospital to ask what the protocol was, if my daughter needed to be rushed to the hospital since, my husband and I were already covid positive and contagious.
I needed to know if I would be allowed to stay with my daughter in the hospital if she needed to be admitted.
The best answer I got was "maybe" due to her age and her autism.
Which terrified me, I'm such a mama bear, and I honestly would have burned that hospital down if they would have tried to admit and quarantine my one and only child, without me.
But luckily, I didn't end up on the 6 o'clock news because my daughter's experience with covid was the mildest of all 3 of us.
She had her fever for about 12 hours, once it broke, she slept for another 12 or so hours and then started running around my house again and didn't appear to have any long lingering symptoms.
Hubby and I did take longer to recover. It's been almost 3 months and my sense of smell and taste hasn't fully returned.
My husband still has exhaustion,it's no longer extreme exhaustion where he sleeps for 20 hours a day, but he still gets run down very easily. He also continues to have mild vertigo and gets winded while walking up a flight of stairs.

that makes total sense. My son says he feels like he’s in jail 😔 also out county healthcare lady called and told us no of else needs to be tested because we’ve been In contact with my son and that if we get symptoms then they take it as if we are positive as well. Well I didn’t like that so we all went and got tested because we all have signs
Kayla ·
Even if He hasn’t been around anyone who has been positive or exposed to someone who’s been around someone who has? We legit live in a bubble and I just hate to put him through it if it’s just a normal cold

If your relatives live as If Covid doesn’t exist then I would say the gathering was high risk. CDC is now saying this is how cases are spreading. Small family gatherings. It’s possible one of them has COVID and don’t know it. But let’s just hope it’s a cold. 🤞

Honestly it really could be any number of things, with seasons changing and all that. But the fever is concerning. I’d have him tested.

I would have him tested. My FIL just accidentally infected my BIL, his wife, and their kids with covid during a brief visit. It can spread so easily, especially by people who aren’t taking any precautions. Sorry girl!

I would get him tested just for peace of mind and to make sure he doesn’t have it
Kayla ·
He’s been tested, it will take 2-3 days to receive the results back.
