Has anyone kids or yourself have issues with acid reflux? My 13yr old was complaining of her chest hurting about a month ago now the pain is in the middle and I took her to the doctor they said it was acid reflux and gave her prilocec(spelling prob wrong) said to call back in 2 weeks if they didn’t work they didn’t so they gave her 2 more weeks worth and it seemed to help a little bit not much. She just called me at work saying it’s hurting again her pills are out and Tums aren’t helping much either at first I was scared it may be something else because she said she feels dizzy when it hurts sometimes but the doctor says she definitely thinks it’s acid reflux. So after my long rambling has anyone dealt with it and what have you used?

I have reflux. But I found the meds didnt work. What worked for me was nexium (mini purple capsule pill) or tums. The medication actually made it worse. For my boys they have a liquid which is fast acting for them so within 10 minutes it works. The nexium pill works with in 20 to 30 minutes and its 24 he.
@kimmyx4 I went to the doctors and got medication from them that failed for years and I gave up after going through so many so I went on my own and tried it after reading great reviews from it and it's been the best one I've used.
I’ve been through all of this. Pepcid AC worked best. Gas X shrinks bubbles and makes them easier to pass with less back up. If you want to go natural, look into Apple cider vinegar tablets.
It turned out part of my stomach was chillin in a 3cm hole and that causes major reflux. I just had hiatal hernia surgery 30 days ago to correct my issues. I couldn’t eat much without having to take a pill. I would have chest and shoulder pain, bouts of what felt like fire in my esophagus, nausea, I would randomly throw up, and sometimes I couldn’t eat at all. I’m still recovering as far as I’m just now able to eat regular food again, but to have no acid is very nice.
@kimmyx4, yeah I never got dizzy, but definitely that chest pain. I hope they refer her to a GI.
@kimmyx4 Have you had her seen by an ENT? If it is truly GERD that is causing dizziness she may be getting vertigo from her eustachian tubes being affected by the reflux... There are different types and symptoms of reflux. Have her seen by an ENT and also make sure heart troubles are ruled out. I know someone who had a heart attack at 13 bc the doctors told her mother it was indigestion and nothing more. She was "too young" to have heart issues. Her mother also had a heart attack at 39 on the same day she had gone to the ER and they sent her home with the same retort. I have GERD and my ears are affected. I also have eustachian tube dysfunction. Hope this info helps you get some answers.
Yeah I changed her diet some, she had a habit when I’m not home to eat and go in bed so I been making her sit up and kept sodas and things to upset her out of the house. I guess I’ll call her doctor tomorrow she said if it didn’t help these last 2 weeks then she’ll refer her to a gi doctor.
I have this issue alot I have tried lots of different meds nothing but I have a gi appointment at the end of the month they thought acid reflux with me... has she changed her diet to help
I use zantac and it helps me. Chewing mints also helps me at times. Tums have never worked and when I say mints I mean like grampas mints. Good ol fashioned altoids!
Aubrey is only 8 she takes something from the dollar general it's otc. It's made from rexall company. Says anti reflux/indigestion.
Shes only 5days an her doctor said not to put anything on it and leave it alone??
These bumps are all over her cheeks, chin, ears, and eye lids. Her doctor says she thinks it's sensitive skin. I changed her soap and detergent to what the doctor said and they have gotten worse. She has acid reflux type symptoms so I started to worry maybe she is lactose intolerant, maybe it's my breast milk. I tried giving her soy formula but she refuses to drink it. I don't know what to do for her at this point. 😓

I have severe acid reflux caused by my last pregnancy. I take Prilosec once a day for the last month and it helps but it’s not completely gone. You have to change her diet to a low acid producing diet. I can give u some stuff I learned if you want to message me.
