Also your boobs are swollen and that’s why they are so big and full. Pumping won’t relieve them. You have to latch baby. It’ll get better after the first 3 weeks. Just hand express to soften the nipple before he latches

Why are you pumping? That’s colostrum that your baby needs and nursing will bring your milk in way faster than pumping. That’s the perfect amount for a 3 day old. Their bellies are tiny. Don’t doubt yourself, just latch baby every 1-2 hours and let him stay on as long as he wants. Put the pump away!!!!

I only started to pump because I though my boobs were starting to get engorged so I was trying to get some out to help him latch better but when i pumped I only got that out and my boobs still feel full

@familyislife121417, you can hand express before nursing so he can latch. Pumping will just cause more stimulation and make them fill up even faster. You need to regulate to your baby’s needs by nursing.

Your baby is able to drain your breast better then a pump. Be careful about pumping too soon. You’ll actually make more milk then you need and possibly get mastitis.

You shouldn’t be pumping yet unless you cannot be with your baby... it does not work the same. Baby sucking on your breast will get what he needs and will trigger your body to produce enough milk for baby. Pumping cannot get the milk out the same as well as will cause you to over produce and you will be engorged and in pain as well as making it very difficult for baby to feed.

@familyislife121417, that’s a good sign it means your milk is coming the full feeling happens before the milk is really in.

When you pump, it does not get all of the milk out of your breasts. Nursing the baby will empty them.

I had my baby the same day and cant get anything but a few drops.

If you're not getting anything I'd assume it's just not in yet
