Has anyone here taken the non egg flu vaccine? My specialists are putting a lot of emphasis on me considering this non egg version of the vaccine because I have autoimmune issues and I’m a sepsis survivor so I can get infected easier. However, this particular vaccine is more powerful than the egg derived shot and it makes me really nervous. I have never taken a flu shot and only got it in 1999 and 2013. I just don’t know if I’m willing to risk it and would love to talk to someone like me with a severe egg allergy who got through it okay before I decide...
I’ve always stayed away from the vaccine not only due to the allergy, but everyone I know who has to get it gets sick every year. That had never sat right with me. I worked in alternative health for years so we just get our adjustments, acupuncture, and drainage massages and kept it going and stayed relatively healthy that way. I figured I wouldn’t stay stuck with my biases and at least research this option before I went back to my hard NO.
I didn't even know this was an option. Aubrey. Was allergic to eggs so she got the nasal spray vaccine. For like 2 years then they stopped offering it 🤔
I have never gotten the flu and have never gotten the vaccine
Mama, there are some vaccines that are "no brainers", but this isn't one of them. If you are at risk for the vaccine causing more of a problem than the illness, stay away!!! You're bright, you know what (or what not) to do. I was forced by the military to get the flu shot or nose spray vaccine and got incredibly ill each time. Since getting out I have never had a flu shot again and rarely get sick anymore and when I do it's over with within a few days unlike when I was being vaccinated. I really hope no matter what you decide that you stay well.
My kids have/had egg allergies and to find somewhere who does the egg free a flu vaccines is so hard also a lot of insurances don’t cover it
If it’s the only shot they can take without harm, it has to be covered eventually. I say eventually because they’ll try not to pay and someone like me would keep appealing until they do. If you have evidence of allergy that imposes risk it has to be covered.
I use the university health system and they already told me it’s just a matter of ordering it for me. Even in CA, I could see depending on where you live how finding the non egg vaccine would be a challenge.
@fairykarmamomma, yes where I’m at in Cali it’s hard to find and a lot of insurances don’t want to cover it even if I did find a place because the flu vaccine shot is “optional” so to speak. How severe is your egg allergy?
@mommakaylax3, I omit the smell of sulphur and I go into anaphylaxis
I had a coworker that has hashimoto's and allergic to eggs. Her first year with the practice we were with she got the egg free flu shot and it caused her hashimoto's to flare up pretty bad. She was out of work for 3 months. She said never again.
See, that’s my fear. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s years ago but since my weight loss my thyroid is now acting like subclinical hyperthyroid and we are unsure what’s really going on. That’s why she wants me to have one. I’m the biggest skeptic
@fairykarmamomma honestly I wouldnt chance it. I was told I have hashimoto's, I have asthma, i have a estrogen dependent liver lesion. I only got it so i could keep working. Now that I work from home i havent had it in 2 years. It is the healthiest I have been in a long time. My illness was always a week to 2 after the flu shot.
I’m interested if anyone answers as well. My sons endo is pushing for it so badly but he’s never had one and we are majorly allergic to a lot of things. I just can’t bring myself to make him get it. I’ve never had a flu shot either and can’t really recall ever getting the flu
They probably get paid to get idiots to take it lol
I get why your sons endo would be all over it. However, flubok is a higher dose like the 65 and up flu vaccine and I’m not feelin it at all. I don’t have time for those side effects.
Me either! And of course they’re all about it because of Rona
Hell no do t pump ur self full of crap that’s non sense I’ll never get the flu shot 💉 neither will the kids it’s pointless really 😪
That’s honestly my usual take, I did promise my endocrinologist that I would at least do research instead of my usual hard no.
@fairykarmamomma, I mean if u got this far lol
Views on getting the flu vaccine? I work on an ambulance and do not get sick usually... last time I received the flu shot I got the flu.
Without bashing me to an oblivion...
Can I have the opinions of vaccinating and non-vaccinating mamas opinions and benefits?
Have any of you mommas taken the flu shot ?

Start rant...
I always wondered about this part of a new vaccine and I am highly allergic to eggs, my son to pineapple. We both keep 6 epi pens and we could both end up in the hospital with a bad vaccine reaction. It’s why I’ve never taken a flu shot.
I know it’s early in the game, but this screams at me because this is proof of what I’ve been saying about some of us will have to rely on herd immunity regardless of whatever vaccine comes out.
In the meantime WEAR A MASK FOR THOSE OF US WHO ...
My friend just told me that once you have your baby they get a hepatitis b shot and flu shot automatically. I don't know how I feel about the flu shot.🤔
I took it when I got pregnant with the trips.
