Make your own breakfast! At what age do you think a child should be making their own breakfast? I have a 10 year old and I think he is perfectly capable of making himself breakfast. It doesn't take rocket science to put some waffles into the toaster, or microwave some pancakes. My husband insists that he needs to have breakfast made for him because if we left it up to him he wouldn't eat enough and it would take him forever.
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no, his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me and did something else with an other girl.... and it's 10:51 am now and he hasn't texted me at all. and after he dropped me off I texted him saying what I felt and nothing. I don't know if I'm over reacting or what or what should i do. do i wait until he text me?
We've decided to start potty training our 22 month old since he can pull down his pants, we've thrown ourselves into it. Now the question is, can 22 month olds be manipulative 😳? This child is something else. If we're having him do something he doesn't want to do, like going down for a nap, he'll start saying potty, if we let him go, he just runs all over the place, I guess forgetting he wanted to use the potty 🤦🏿 ♀ Is this a thing? I just go get him and have him sit on the potty and I tell him, "if you say you want to use the potty, then you must use the potty." I feel like I should work on him not "telling lies." But idk what this behavior is. Can 22 month olds be manipulative, and a liar? Someone told me "he's intelligent to know that saying potty will get him out of something he doesn't want to do." I say... this some bull... 😑😒 Another thing, when I try to get him to look at me when I'm trying to tell him he did something wrong, he does not make eye contact. I get down on my knee in front of him, he looks away, I cup his chin with my hand to have him face me, or say "Nordo, look at mommy please," he averts his eyes... you guys 😓 somedays I feel like he's a sociopath 😬 I don't say that out loud though 😅 ugh, I know, I'm CRAZY, but man... what are the chances? lol
@itsamemario, you deleted your post before I could hit send but this is my comment: I don’t know if this answers your question but this is my answer. My son is 7 and he knows race and color. Why? Because he himself comes from a family that is multi racial and because he has already experienced racism. I also believe as his mother it’s my job to teach him color and the cold hard truth about society. He knows what’s going on in this world. I’d be hurting him if I allowed him to blindly walk outside without this information. Children of color are being targeted and killed too. It’s not just adults. I let my son know we treat everyone equally and with respect. I let him know that we love everyone for their differences. In every aspect. Color, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual preference we love everyone.
has anyone experienced a child who doesn't want to use the potty? My son fully understands the process of using the potty and knows when he has to go but he just doesn't want to use the potty. He loves diapers/pullups 😐. I have tried getting him his favorite underwear, a potty with one of his favorite characters, I've tried just sitting him on it with a book as well as reading the potty book. I even took a suggestion from our pediatrician to just put underwear on him without anything else so that when he had an accident it would be uncomfortable and encourage him to use the potty.... nope. He just pooped in them and didn't say a word until I smelled it... 😞

Мама двоих (1 год, 2 года)
Thanks ladies. I definitely feel the pressure! I don’t want him to fall behind and keep asking myself what did I do wrong. I just want him to be happy (and as a bonus maybe not have to deal with as many diapers 😉)

Definitely wait until he seems more ready. With my 2 oldest I got a little kiddy potty from Walmart and put it in the livingroom and got potty shows of their favorite characters. Theres a whole DVD called potty time with daniel tiger, dinosaur train, cat and peg, and more. That helped a lot.

PS- It's very stressful and hard, because a lot of times family is chiming in or friends and making comments, or you just feel they aren't where they should be. 3 is still very young! <3

He just doesn't sound like he's ready. At his age, it has to have "buy in" from him, he has to want to do it. He's seeing it as a negative, like his good old reliable diaper is taken away from him, so potty training=bad. My daughter potty trained late, and it was a constant battle until we took a big break from it and came back to it with it being "her idea". Like she gained new privileges and things from being able to not need diaper changes, like special trips to the children's museum. I am not at all trying to be critical. It sounds like it's become a battle and he is going to dig in and ultimately he is is control, you can't make him do it.
