My second labour story
I woke up at 5AM with some pains that increased. I didn’t pay attention then as I thought they wouldn’t progress. I was 39 weeks and 5 days. There were no signs of labour so I thought I would be overdue. When I got up I had another part of a show with some blood. I had a show the previous day as well. My contractions were 30 seconds and 2,5 minutes apart.
I arrived at the hospital at 7AM, was monitored. My heart rate (120) and the baby’s heart rate was high (160-180). They thought it could be a sign of an infection in my body. Everything else was fine. As I arrived at the hospital my contractions slowed down and weren’t as frequent.
I was monitored for about 2 hours and then transferred into a separate ward with one bed. I had some blood tests and a COVID test. At 10:30 AM I was examined and 4cm dilated. The midwife offered to break my waters which I agreed to. It speeded things up as it was my second baby (I don’t think I would agree to this in my first pregnancy). The waters were green, it wasn’t very good, but the midwives assured me I can still have a natural delivery. I called my husband to come in and he arrived at 11 o’clock. So I dilated from 4 cm to 10 cm within 1 hour and 20 minutes. My contractions were quite intense and frequent. I could only think about swearing and bad words when they were happening 😄. The midwives told me to lay on my left side, this way the baby’s heart rate should be slightly lower.
At 11:50 AM I felt a very heavy pressure down below and I could stop screaming. I got up and wanted to push. The pressure was really huge. I thought I would shit myself in front of everyone.
The baby’s head went out quite quickly and then the rest of his body at 12 o’clock. He was purple colour. I couldn’t stop crying. I was very emotional. My husband cut the baby’s cord.
I lost 1,5 litres of blood in my first labour, this time only 300 ml.
I am happy the baby was born on 01/09/2020 and not any later as I wanted him to be born in August so he doesn’t start school one year later than he could. The age gap between him and his older brother is 2 years and nearly a month. It would be a shame that their gap at school is 3 years. So I hope we can still negotiate with a school to make my boys have 2 years of gap.
Due to suspicion of infection me and the baby are being given antibiotics and we stay at the hospital for 48 hours. I miss my older baby a lot. My husband can’t visit me in the ward.
What a lovely story! Huge congratulations hun ! And well done !
I hope you're both doing okay and will be out within 48 hours 💞
Поздравляю 🥰
