This was expected, there's no way to have schools open and control the spread at the same time. I feel bad for those 4 people, I hope your daughter is doing well. Are they requiring at least that everyone in that class get tested?

@supermomof4 I'm glad your daughter is fine. I hope they stay quarantined. So all those people will be absent for 14 days (not counting the weekends, lol, you get what I mean) to watch for symptoms?

yes and they have done online for the students while they are out during this time. And they aren’t allowed back until a certain date.

We’ve been back in school since the 6th and have had 4 cases in our high school, 2 in middle and none so far in elementary. Out of around 30,000 kids county wide, there have been around 60 cases total.

Our governor said it really well, I think. "What you see in the community is what you will see in the school. If guidelines in the community aren't followed outside of school, nothing the teachers do during school can overcome that." I just thought it was really well said and a good point. @ekko @halloqueen_xo

@supermomof4 I live in a busy downtown and I watched from my kitchen window a group of 8 teens go to Dairy Queen. Then on the walk back, one kid took his straw out of his drink to put it in another kid's and taste his. No masks, no distancing, sharing food. Holy cow. I am sure their parents would have died if they saw it.

It just really put it all into perspective for me. We have to try our best, but crazy things like that happen and boom, small outbreak in school that can spread.

100%. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it over & over again. If people want to prioritize opening schools then communities need to be willing to make sacrifices in other aspects of their life. Bars should be closed, theaters should be closed, restaurants should be outdoor only or takeout only, and masks should be required in all public places. Many places have chosen not to follow these safety precautions. Now they’ve opened up their schools and are now going to have cases over and over and over and over again all school year long.

Our state has masks mandatory in public spaces and we still have a positive case (just confirmed yesterday) and school just opened up Monday!!! We are also doing a hybrid schedule half the kids go Monday and Thursday the other half goes Tuesday and Friday. We still got a positive case!

I know it's really really hard on kids to do distant learning but I also think we should be with held in person instruction until the end of September like the governor suggested!!! But our county didn't listen 🙄

I think that might be the new record! So did they close the whole school or just isolate that classroom

Just isolated the classroom and the teachers.

nope! Our first positive was hours after the first 2.5 hour day!!! Apparently, the kids got tested, but the parents didn’t wait for the results!!! Sent them on the bus and everything!!!! 🙄🙄 Morons!!!! Got the results after school and they were positive. And no, the whole class was NOT quarantined. Not even the teacher!! Just whoever had “close prolonged” contact.
