For parents that are looking for a different way to educate your children and are interested in the Montessori method, look here to see if there’s a public Montessori near you. This is the Texas page, but go to the menu for listings in your state.
This has been the best decision I could’ve made for my son on the spectrum next to moving from the Bay to Sacramento. He’s not in an SDC, it’s full inclusion with an aide. It’s definitely worth looking into if you’re looking for something considered non traditional yet has some structure.
I thought I’d share because I’ve been asked about this a lot lately.

Sorry for it being so late girl! I've been meaning to ask you about this school! I looked up ours and it isnt free, it's 8,000 yearly for 1 child. 😣 I was wanting to zend both mine there bc it seems so much more interaction and hands on learning! Thank you for sharing! I hope when the time comes for mine to go, he can get some financial aide in that area since there is NO other option here.

I’m sad that many of these aren’t truly public like mine is. Why put that on a public Montessori site? Our fee is 40 hours volunteer work per year, if we had 2 kids it would be 70 hours. That can be done by any family member so four of us are tackling his hours. Washing table cloths(yes part of life skills lessons is teaching these kids how to properly set a table)from the lunch tables is a 1 hour chore for example. If I were to pay for a private Montessori here it would be like $1200-$1400 a month almost what I pay for my house so I get where that would be a lot for anyone. I like the public charter option because they HAVE to abide by IEPs where are private schools can pick and choose what they will and won’t deal with.
I hope you can get financial aide too. Everyone deserves the education they’re meant to have!

thank you girl! If they had the volunteer option, I'd jump on it!! It sounds like an amazing education and skills they'll actually need to learn! ❤❤❤
