okay, so my little guy is breast fed, but we try to give him a bottle of breast milk atleast once every three days. his doctor said 2 1/2 ounces for him is good, but i knew that was too little... i’ve been giving him about 5 1/2 ounces & he wants to eat again 30 minutes later. what gives??
So Charlies started crying when im feeding him solids was getting stressed thinking why wont he eat.. but when i offer him finger foods he will happily eat.. its like he just wants to do it himself! Anyone else had this?
My son is 14 months tomorrow and we can hardly get him to eat solid foods on his own. We want to wean him off formula by 18 months and have been trying to get him to snack on small finger foods and he mainly just plays with it or throws it off his tray. Sometimes he will eat it if we give it to him but most of the time he shakes his head no. Any ideas or tips on how to get him more interested in eating? He will eat yogurt bites and cherrios on his own but that's about it.
Another question: My FIL made Delos a piece of toast with jam on it and was gonna try to feed it to him without flat out telling me he made some for him. I'm not okay with him having sugary stuff like that. Nor am I okay with my FIL making him food without consulting me first. He doesn't know what I have been directed to give him by his pediatrician. I appreciate that he is trying but he needs to run stuff past us first before making food that's gonna be wasted. He made it right before nap time too so when he asked if Delos wanted to help him eat breakfast which is not the wording he should have used in the first place, he should have made sure we didn't have other plans or that he didn't just eat. He just had a bottle before he made the food. Sorry I post a lot about what urks me about my FIL. It's just a way to let it out because I can't talk to my husband about it nor can I talk to my MIL.
so my husband wants to feed are baby but the thing is that I will be breastfeeding so idk how it would work. he was thinking that when he wants to feed him he would give him formula but I just want my baby to have breast milk. so then he said why don't you pump your milk out and I'll feed it to him and i thought that would be the best thing but then I'm scared that my baby will get use to the bottle. I need help idk what to do because my husband really wants to feed him :/ and we need to come up with something before are baby is here. can anyone help??

No he doesn’t need baby food or water. That’s just crazy! None of our doctors have ever said anything that early on. Even at the 6 month appointment they didn’t mention it. I said I was exclusively breastfeeding and doc said great job! They didn’t even say anything til about 12 months. Your baby would most likely reject it anyway because of the tongue thrust reflex. Both my kids had it strong til 7 months.

Water and baby food at 3 months?! Time for a new pediatrician.

It makes me so mad. My kids have had the same pediatrician for 5 years. And now he wants to give advice like this. I told him I'd consider it. But waylon sees him again next week and I'm going to tell him I'm not doing the food or water. All because he gained 4 lbs in a month. Okay, so I'll space out his feedings. Or just give him less. He went through a fussy phase where all he wanted to do was eat. Cluster feeding. Growth spurt idk.

I think you need a new doctor. No water and 3 months is too early for baby food. I started at 6 months with mine. And nooooo waterrrr.

It's just weird. I've had the same doctor for my kids for over 5 years. This is the first time I've questioned him

My sons doctor told me that I can start baby food when my soon was 4 months. I have always started all my kids on baby food around 4/5 months anyways.

Early teething sucks. My first got his first teeth at 4 months. Have you tried teethers with him?

Yea. No interest yet. I'm trying different textures

Start pace feeding him with a slower flow nipple. It’ll make him work more for it and it’ll take longer for him to eat, so he’ll get full earlier

I know. I started giving him 5oz every 4-5hours instead of food. And I just distract him in-between. He's been teething. So all he wants is his bottle, cuddles and to just be held.

The digestive tract can’t really handle food until 6 months. I would say try pace feeding him his bottle because he may be eating too fast causing him to spit up rather than true reflux. My first had this issue.

That's what we did before adding formula. Many breaks, burping, and more. He was only bottle fed for appointments. I cut dairy and green veggies and other gassy foods. He was still spitting up. We added the formula and he stopped spitting up so much. And almost never spits up. My first didn't have these problems. My 2nd was strictly breastfed. This baby I've had to bottle feed bc of appointments, surgery and bc of acid reflux. He uses size 0 and size 1 nipples.

He's way too young for baby food. Give him breastmilk and formula as much as he needs it. He is just going through a big growth spurt.

That's what I was thinking too. Like...I've NEVER heard of giving an almost 4 month old baby food. Liam was born a chunky baby, and would gain maybe 2-3lbs in a month, and the same doctor didn't suggest baby food. I love his doctor. And always respected his choices....but baby food..this early.
