Okay so married couples I have a question. How do you guys split bills with your spouse. Do you guys do 50/50 or does anyone pay more and why? How did you come up with the agreement on who pays what and does it cause conflict or has it? If you do 50/50 do you guys have a joint bank account or separate?
Very curious on how this works.
Joint bank account. All the money goes together & I'm in charge of paying the bills. My husband is horrible with money & had a bad credit score, so he agreed to let me take it over. It seems way too complicated trying to split bills, i don't understand the point, but that's just me.
We have one bank account that all money goes into, and a savings we add to. I pay all bills from the joint account. We both use everything, and marriage is a partnership, so everything is joint
One checking and two savings. The same amount from both checks goes to our savings and daughters saving account. All other money goes into joint checking account and all bills are paid from the one account.
Husband only one working. Yet we have joint account he pays everything. I also have a savings account and he puts money there
I don’t believe in joint bank accounts u just never no but hubby pays all the bills I wouldn’t mind helping but he doesn’t like me too so I plan the other fun stuff like vacations and dates 🥰
We have 2 different accounts. He pays all the major bills. I pay for our groceries and for gas in my car. Then whatever else I want. If we happen to be together he'll pay for the groceries or whatever we're doing. It's always been this way even when I was working. I've been a stay at home mom for the past 8 years now.
Joint bank account and pay everything out of it. For a long time I was a full time working mom and he was a stay at home dad and "my" money was our money. When we both worked it was always shared also. We're partners for life so it makes no sense to waste energy trying to figure it out any other way.
Well, I’m a stay at home mom and my husband owns his own business. We have one account that is basically mine, but he puts a check in it to cover the bills and such and I pay everything from there. And he has another account with his business and I also have a debit card for that one and I use it whenever I need any extra money.
We used to split based on percentage of income. So we would add our take home incomes and then come up with the percentage based on that. So if our total was $10k and I contributed $3k to that he would be responsible for 70% and I would be responsible for 30%. That way no one was getting maxed out paying towards household bills. Now that I'm not working I pay for groceries, bills associated with car, presents and some miscellaneous items for the house
My hubby is very old fashioned he pays for everything (he even gives me money back when I buy diapers) he says my money is for me he insists
@lou-lou27, lol o okay I’m not a sahm but my husband still will not let me pay for shit lol
@jaybird1988, ol southern gentleman thas wat he calls himself
My husband pays everything becaus right now he makes more than me. Even I worked full time he didnt allow me to pay anything. He has this I'm the man I'm suppose to provide mindset. Even when I offered he never took anything from me. Now that we have the girls I told him they are my responsibility. Whatever they need I'll get and he can just keep paying the bills
Husband pays more bills and rent because he makes more. We have one joint account where all bill and living expense money goes and two separate of our own which is what we use to buy the kids Christmas presents, clothes, gifts, whatever you want for yourself basically. We usually split the expenses for the kids and that money comes out of our separate accounts. We didn’t decide on this just kind of happened and never has caused a problem.
All about what works we have separate accounts one of us pays all the bills and the other is for spending and food it just happens to work for us
1 account. Everything goes into one account. Everything is paid from that account.
Same here too!
Before we were married though, we had our own accounts and a joint account. We both put the same percentage of our paychecks into the joint account to pay all living expenses (mortgage, utilities, cell phone, cable/internet, and any food/house expenses).
@oneplusone, I was in high school before I was married and had a joint account with my dad 😂
How do you and your partner split household bills? Does one person pay everything? Or do you guys split it half and half?
