I HATE seeing them laying on the ground in parking lots and places. Like people just walk out of the store, take them off and toss them on the ground. Um, somebody has to pick that shit up.

Sure ideally they’d be in a closed bin somewhere but unless someone is digging through the trash I am not so sure they pose much risk in a trash can. You wouldn’t want to touch someones used mask and then touch your face but I believe any droplets would remain in the trash with the used mask. Thrown on the ground is a different story. That’s just trashy behavior and someone has to pick it up.

Yes but there are a lot of homeless people around the United States who solely depend on digging through the trash to survive. I’m in a very small town and we have a few that are always in the trash looking for food and drinks, also for cans to recycle. In Oklahoma City they have a HUGE population of homeless people and they must dig through the trash to survive.

Then what about these people who have to clean up the trash or take out the trash bags at these places. Surely as contagious as this virus is even putting your mask and gloves in a trash can would then transmit the virus to whatever it’s touched as it’s going in the trash, so the person cleaning it could have potential contact am I correct? And I’m not out a lot but I’ve seen people at Walmart changing trash bags without gloves, same at dollar general.

@supermomof4, I agree it’s not good if people are digging through trash. Unfortunately most things a homeless person would come across in a trash can would be contaminated, not just masks and gloves, but a used coffee cup or even the very cans and food they may be digging for. The biohazard bin would then essentially be the trash bin and they would then need to dig through that for some contaminated cans. Ideally, sure, there would be separate containers for used masks and gloves but I guess I’m my opinion it’s on a different level than needles or something. A person removing trash should be closing a trash bag without touching its contents and a mask or glove is unlikely to poke through like some medical waste would.

I wrap up the disposables in a bag tightly. But I mainly wear a reusable.
The virus only lingers for a while on fomites so there is that.
Everyone should properly dispose of their waste but I bet there are a number of people whom chuck it on the ground and move on. Rude!

But you can not even get some people to wear them properly🙄

@supermomof4 oh wow! I'll jave to ask my aunt, she is in TX where the numbers are higher and her unit was turned for Covid I think, she just got over it. I wonder if its happening like that down there or only where numbers are high.

@scidg3, that’s a good question! We don’t even have high numbers here so I have no idea why they are doing this!
