The reopening plans for my sons new school is on Friday and the first parent information meeting is next Monday. I’m ready for whatever’s coming, but I have to admit that it’s a little awkward starting at a new school with the pandemic going on.
Any other parents in that situation, where the kids are supposed to attend a new school? How are you feeling?

Not a new school but my son is starting pre-K. Have they announced their plans yet? For our school you can do online or in person. But online has to commit to so many weeks. I believe For elementary kids they have to commit to 9 weeks for middle and high school you have to commit to 18 weeks.

Obviously not the same as your situation but this is our guidelines nothing for headstart or pre-K, sadly.

The district I live in has announced their plans which is part in class/part distance or just distance learning. My son is starting Kindergarten at a public Montessori Charter that’s 2 miles away but they haven’t announced their plans yet. That’s Friday.

I know, I feel sorry for the younger families. Those kids need to be in school the most but they aren’t the cleanest population. They’re still mastering those things and the whole thing is risky no matter how you look at it. In person education could cause more Rona but distance learning can also be detrimental depending on your child and what they need. My kid has a very detailed IEP. Being a parent with school aged children right now is a tough spot to be in period

Well my daughter will be going to a new school and will be starting kindergarten. I don’t know how I feel about it. I would rather be teaching her at home but I will be starting back in august as well for college. I know it’s going to be hard since I’m taking 15 units.

Yes my daughter will be starting at a new school for kindergarten. She went to a different school for TK. They haven’t announced the plan yet so we’re just waiting. For the districts that have already decided on remote learning I’m just wondering how the teachers are supposed to get to know their students. All kids come in at different levels and with different personalities. The teachers won’t know anything about them. I feel like they should start off doing in-person and then can move into remote learning if things get really bad with flu season coming up

My sons first year is this year & I literally cannot send him physically into school with how things are. I think it’s too soon & that it’s too much of a gamble to risk my little guy getting sick. I know what precautions we’ve had in place for the year but I don’t know what every other kids family has been doing & that worries me. So we chose the distance learning option immediately. It’s a bad year to have your first child starting their first bit of school. 😩 It’s stressing me out! Lol
