I need help!!!!! My (almost) 3 year old refuses to potty train! We keep her in panties at home and make her sit on the potty every 10/15 min and she holds it until we put her in a pull up for her nap or to go to bed. My oldest was so easy and was potty trained before she was 2. I don’t know what to do!
Some days I feel like she is completely ready, like she will take off her pull ups on her own and puts on big girl panties and other days she flips out if she doesn’t have a pull up on. I just don’t know what to do.
She’s most likely regressing because she has a baby in the house and she wants to be a baby. My daughter did the same thing at 3.5 when her brother was born. I’d sit her on the toilet and she’d hold it then go to her room and pee in her pants. If your daughter can hold it that long then she’s definitely ready to use the potty. What kind of reward system are you using? With my daughter we did stickers for pee and candy for poop. You will need to figure out what she responds to. It’s a hard process, I’ve been there.
We are doing m&ms if she goes (they’re her favorite) and some days she takes off her pull ups and runs around naked on her own and other days she flips out if she doesn’t have a pull up on. It’s just hard and I want to do best for her but I don’t want her in pull ups forever.
@allamericanmommy, I think that’s just a normal part of the process. My son has been potty training for the past 3 months and he’s the same way. Some days he goes in the potty 6x a day without a fight and other days he outright refuses and just wants his pull-up. Today he threw a big tantrum screaming his head off because I was making him sit on the potty. He hadn’t peed in 2 hours and his pull-up was dry so I figured he’d go. He didn’t and I tried again an hour later and he went. I wish I had the answer but I think we all go through it.

@allamericanmommy, consistency is key. But if she isn’t fully ready it won’t happen. My 13 year old was also potty trained at 2 but my 4 year old is still in a pull up at night and will not poop on the potty. Every kid is different. Nothing wrong with them or you. And don’t let anyone tell you or make you feel different!
