Anyone with a 6-7 month old, have you started baby food yet or even table foods like baby led weaning? My daughter will be 7 months on the 20th and she really doesn’t care for baby purée and I’m scared to death to try actual baby led weaning or even mushed you foods with her. What is your baby doing? I would love some feed back

Wic had me start the little one i was taking care of at 5.5 months old.
I started my baby at 6months with gerber he was fine but now that he’s 8moths old he does t really care for them anymore. So now I give him what I eat and he enjoys food that way. ( he stills gets baby cereal in the mornings )

My daughter will be 6 months old on the 29th and I’ll start BLW. I’ve done BLW with my other two kids instead of purées. They eat what I eat basically.
What foods do you start off with first? Also what foods are a no at the beginning? Should I read into it more?
Hey girl ! Ellie just turned 6 months yesterday and a week ago we started baby lead weaning. And she loves food . So fair she’s tried apricot blackberries carrots and apples . Sometimes I need to help her if the food falls but other than that she loves it which amazes me how much she loves it bc my oldest didn’t take to food at all
You weren’t scared to go full force into baby led weaning? What did you first start off with? I have really bad anxiety so the whole gagging thing ect freaks me out so bad! But I want to try it because I feel like she hates purées and is so independent she would rather have real foods but I’m so clueless where to even start and of choking freaks me out. Also her dr think she needs actual real food she doesn’t believe in the whole purée thing
@mommakaylax3, I was not scare at all.i just had a gut feeling she was ready after watching her watch us eat she would study us and copy what we were doing . She would Reach for my food . I started off with just a tiny dot if avocado on a spoon and she was fine . Is she spitting out the purées if so myb she hasn’t lost her tongue thrush which was the case with my oldest and she first started accepting food at 9 month and even than it was very minimal
@alishap1212, she doesn’t spit the food out anymore she puts her tongue forward so I can’t put the spoon in her mouth lol. I squeezed some avocado between my fingers today and gave her a few bites and she did good with it

Right ladies...talk to me about weaning! I’ve read pros and cons of purée and baby led weaning, and how some things can be started at 4 months and BLW at 6 months, but what works??? Do you do purée and then move onto more BLW style? Should you just start them at 4 or 6 months or should I be waiting for signs that she is ready? Any stories/tips are welcome! X

Baby-led weaning tips, please! My girl is going to be 6 months old tomorrow and it's time to introduce some food!
I started both my kids on purées at 5.5 months but neither of them had a strong liking to it right away. My son actually stopped eating purées at 8 months because he just wanted the same food we were eating. I’d give him very small pieces and let him feed himself. He hated to be spoon fed. You just have to follow your baby’s lead. If she’s not ready then wait a few more weeks. There’s no rush.
