Am I the only human who hatessss open floor plans. 😤. I want the kitchen to be completely separate from the living room. I want the dining room to be it’s own damn room. Ughhhh.

Thank you for listening to my rant.

I like open because I cook a lot and I can watch my kids while I’m cooking. When my daughter was a baby we were in a house with a separate kitchen and I couldn’t see her at all if she was in the living room.

I used to just bring Faye into the kitchen with me when I cooked. (Old house) She’d play with play dough or whatever while I cooked. I loathhhh open. Hahaha

@jennatess, yeah that worked until she was walking then she wouldn’t sit at all, not even for 1 minute 😩

I hate them. I want to be able to put a gate up and keep the kids out of the kitchen. I dont mind the island that connects the kitchen and dining room but all 3 are separate rooms and should be that

I agree! A half wall between the dining and kitchen I can totally getting behind. And a breakfast table IN the kitchen is totally great. But man! The flooring plans where the couches are feet away from the kitchen?! Hate it!

@jennatess nope. The couch and TV need to be away from food areas

I have a "hidden" nook like kitchen. You have to walk around the dining room to get into the kitchen. I also hate open floor plans!!!

I really do too. I'm looking for an apartment right now and honestly I'm not even sure where to start. There really isn't a break up unless you make one somehow. 😭

I like semi open. Some separation but open view. Hard to find! Most new homes are just one big room, don’t like it. The furniture arrangement kills me

Well looking, I found a house that had the living room completely separate, but there was a wall between the kitchen & dining with a large “window” cut out. There were barstools set up on one side, but it had like shutter things that could be closed to make it totally closed off. I thought that was super cute & convenient.

Same!!! Really hard to fine in any newer homes. It was one of my wants when we were house shopping. We found it in our now home. Built in 1950. Older home but so much more charm and character

I agree! I actually found a house built in 1928 that I’m OBSESSED with. But, it’s annoying because covid ruined it all. The cheesecake factory was supposed to build a new location in Modesto, California… Giving it to my husband. I have family who live in that town, so it was perfect! But now, because of Covid, we are just waiting it out. I’m praying that this house somehow stays on the market for a year. 😂🤞🏼

I like separate dining for sure! But I like sight lines between living room and kitchen so I can watch kiddo while I cook.

@gingerlion96 @cams, i used to think that too! But, i loved my old house that had a kitchen totally closed off. It was built in 1926. I would always just bring the little one into the kitchen, gate it off, and she’d play in there with me cooking until she was old enough to wander. When I was pregnant with her I used to wonder how I’d do it, but it was actually nice. No screens. Just a dance party time, or quite play time. It worked for me. 🤗

My boy just cries at my feet whenever I’m cooking or doing dishes - no idea why! But apparently he hates me be busy in the kitchen 😅

I’m not a fan for myself. I really hate when the whole house smells like food that was just cooked. I feel like the separation helps with that problem.

Girl, I thought I was the only one. We are going to be looking for a new home and so many of them have open floor plans. I don’t want my kitchen in the damn living room area! It’s so frustrating!

Thank you! 🙌🏼

like if I’m visiting somebody else’s home, I don’t think anything of it! But for me personally? No! Hahaha.

We are hoping to move in the next year or two max, so I like to look for fun. But it gets me heated! Hahah. I hope it’s a trend that dies.

It’s like I have to look at houses built in the 50s or before, but then they need a crap ton of updating.

@jennatess, yes we are planning on moving in the fall so I am looking at the current homes for sale and I am getting so frustrated. I guess people like it but I don’t. Yes, I don’t want to have to put in a ton of work. I am hoping we can find some that aren’t that way!

@theycallmemommy, I hope you can also! I’ve thought so many times “well, I guess a half wall / wall could be put up here for some division”, but that’s so much work.

I can't take it anymore! Haley (yes my 1mth old and no I wasn't able to go through this "joy" of nursing my older daughter, Molly) has been screaming non stop for 6hrs! All she wants to do is eat and I can't have her attached to me all day, everyday! She has wanted to eat every hr on the hr for the past 3hrs! I put her in her room so I don't scream at her but I just can't take it!

lillyb Good job giving ur self a break we all need them. See if maybe she will nurse
delete____ I have to commend you for stepping away, momma!! Everyone reacts to a child screaming differently and
imisssleep123456789 Ugh I remember those days. With both kids I decided to always top them off with formula.
