Any thoughts from mom's who waited until 3 to potty train? Are you glad you waited? Did it go over smoothly with kiddos being a bit older? Avian will poop on the potty but for the life of me I can't get him to pee on the potty. :/

My son is three. He just started getting the hang of it last month. He was more ready.

My son didn’t potty train until 3.5. He had absolutely no interest, but he had to be potty trained to start preschool. I just put underwear on him and took him to the potty every 30 minutes. It only took him a few times of peeing in his underwear to realize how much he hated the feeling and he was using the potty consistently in a couple of days. Pooping took over a month before he finally got the hang of it.

It’s also very common for them to poop first on the potty. They are able to feel the urge to poop and sometimes don’t feel to urge to pee.

Mine is 3. We tried when he was 2, and he just wasn’t ready. It was an uphill battle. Now, as of the last month, he pees in the potty, but we can’t get him to poop in it. He is pretty much night trained and day trained though with peeing, and he keeps his pull-up/undies dry. But he still asks for a pull-up when he needs to poop. I’m trying not to push him too hard and plan on waiting a bit until he seems more ready for it. It’s just not worth the screaming and crying I get when I try to force it. He gets frustrated so easily.

@blueismycolor yea for my son peeing on the floor etc. doesn't bother him. He doesn't seem to understand that's not what he's supposed to do

I honestly waited until around 3-3.5 years. I'm happy I waited until I did because they were 100% ready and it was a smooth transition. A couple of accidents, but nothing major.

Here's her bio and general tips: Hello I am Ceiamaria I am a stay at home Mother to 4 children ages 12,8,7 and 11 months old. I am happily married for 12 years and we are still going strong. I am determined and driven for success FAILURE isn't an option for me. I potty trained my oldest at 9 months old. My 2 middle son's were more difficult they were between 18 months and 2 years old. My baby boy was showing interest in potty training, I decided to buy him a potty chair. Potty training tips 1.) Don't rush your child 2.)Don't yell at your child 3.) Don't punish your child for having accidents 4.) Don't give you child candy 5.) Don't compare other children to your child 6.) Do praise your child 7.) Clap your hands when your child goes to the potty. 8.)Take your child every 15-30 minutes to the potty 9.)Don't criticize your child 10.) I don't recommend pull ups but I don't bash mothers who decided to use them. 11.) Remember potty training is not taught in one day you have to be determined to potty train your child.
