Moving to America as an adult has truly opened up my eyes to racism against black people. I grew up believing that the police were here to “serve and protect” but I realized that many of them have no regard for life and kill because they “feel” threatened! It’s sick! That video of George Floyd really moved my spirit to tears. Tears of pain and tears of anger. I have a black son who is subject to the racial discrimination and police brutality that plagues our nation. Literally black men are surrendering with their hands up and they are still getting executed. With systematic racism in every level of the justice system, what am I supposed to tell my black son? And to my non-black friends, colleagues and counterparts, I need y’all to pull up. Take a stance by making an actionable contribution to this cause that will result in transformative and long term change. You can’t pretend that this stuff isn’t happening anymore. Educate yourselves and pull up. I can’t have you in my life anymore if you wanna use our culture for the come up but when it’s time to show up you don’t pull up #BlackLivesMatter
