Tips to help build a supply ? 😭 pediatrician just told me to buy a thing of formula cause I’m not pumping an ounce and baby only made one wet diaper today. I broke down into tears . I’ve been feeding on demand . I’ve been so dedicated. I’m so upset

Pumping isn’t an accurate representation of what baby is taking in. People may respond differently to pumps than actually nursing.
How often are you feeding baby? At 4 days old, it should be every 2-3 hours, for a total of 8-12 feeds a day. Best way to increase supply is to increase the time at the breast, in addition to making sure you’re well hydrated and fed. Usually it’s after baby has regained birthweight that a true on demand schedule is appropriate, but until then it’s best not to let baby go too long without offering.
Has your milk fully come in yet? It can take 5 days for it to fully come in. But if baby needs a top off until then, that’s alright!
I’ve also attached a graphic of how big baby’s stomachs are and what a normal amount they can handle. If you need additional resources, check out kellymom (either the website or the Facebook group).
