Really bummed. Had Mila’s 2 week appointment today and she’s not back to her birth weight. It’s like a flashback to our journey with Jais. I really thought breastfeeding was going well this time, too. I’m not giving up but I just feel so discouraged and disappointed in myself.
I felt the same way with my second one but stayed the course and never gave her formula or even a bottle. Tried to bottle feed her bm bit she wouldn't take it and though it took longer than I wanted it to she did gain the weight, but never got really chunky like some. She is perfectly healthy and doing great. Went strong for 20 months. And she just turned two on the 3rd.

Don't beat yourself up!!! Do you have a milk catcher? You could also follow up after a feeding with milk you have caught on the other side. How often is baby waking to eat?
@scidg3, Yeah, that’s what I plan on doing although it’s hard to get her to eat before the 3 hour mark. She takes after me and likes her sleep haha
I’ll definitely have to do the syringe idea. I’ll do whatever works.
@mommaofjais Yes! I know exactly what you mean! It's tough. Good luck!
I found that pumping the foremilk for a few minutes before nursing helped. He would nurse just as long but get more hindmilk and I had the bottled foremilk if he was still hungry. We also used one bottle a day to supplement.
@mommaofjais, try the kiindi. It’s made for breastfed babies
@monstermommax3, I’ve never seen something like that before!!
She might need a fortifier to supplement. But definitely try the above comment first. I always hand express till my milk is more consistent less watery before I pump or breastfeed.
@mommaofjais, that’s why I try to express till it happens before she feeds. But other than her breathing while she’s eating. She’s perfectly healthy and developed.
A friend of mine had the same issue. I was breastfeeding and pumping at the time and gave her the milk I pumped since my little was gaining on track. Her little started gaining shortly after. She wasnt making enough fatty milk (hindmilk) according to the LC.
Try increasing your "healthy fats" intake by eating nuts, salmon, avocados, seeds, and or eggs more.
Have baby eat from one whole boob instead of switching unless needed. It gives them more time to get the hindmilk (fattier).
I've read about separating the milk foremilk from hindmilk to just give fattier milk but that seems way too time consuming lol.
You've got this momma
It takes longer for a breast fed baby to gain weight then a formula feed. You got this momma. Don’t give up
Oh, really? That’s good to know. We have to do weekly weight checks for now which is fine but I’m just hoping by next week she’ll be caught up. Same thing happened to my son and by 4 months, he was losing weight. I was hoping things would go better this time around. I’m definitely not giving up, though. I really want to make it work.
@mommaofjais, try nurse ever 2-3 hrs and not go pass 4 hrs. What I did and he gained all his weight by his one month check up
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
TWW!!
2dpo and on the tww journey. Anyone on the same dpo or close? Haven't decided if I will test at 12dpo or just wait and see if she shows up!!

I will be 41 :/
Short Luteal Phase?
I've just started temping because I believe that the reason I haven't had a BFP yet, after 20 months, is because I believe I may have a Luteal Phase Defect.
