Morning "meeting" is taking place on Google meet. Your kid is screaming and throwing a full blown temper tantrum....do you
A) continue to threaten him...count which is getting no where...yell, etc
B) mute the mic but don't turn off the video
C) call it a day and turn off the video

Maybe try B but likely C

I agree.

Uhhh THANK YOU...a kid in my child's class chose A....so we all had to suffer while they got him to settle down for five minutes 🙄
Mandy··
@bunsinmyoven no! Which is the most inconsiderate part of it. I know it's a struggle to do this with kids but the other kids shouldn't have to suffer in the mean time 😒
Mandy··
@momtoboys1516 actually there was only three students because it helps them focus better The boy that was throwing the temper tantrum, my daughter and her friend were focusing perfectly fine and still listening to the teacher as she screamed over the child 🙄

@momtoboys1516, Not acceptable behavior in the classroom, regardless of age. The kid being at home is obviously different & online learning is stressful for all, however the parent should have muted the mic. It’s incredibly disrespectful to take the learning away from the other students in the meeting.

That's a hard one my son is 5 depending why hes acting up sometimes he just needs to go to his playroom or his bedroom and calm himself down and he comes back to me when hes done for a hug. As for work try to have your meeting if super important if not I'm sure more understand working from home with kids is hard and we cant always plan for what is going to happen
DragonTrainer1··
Oh if it's for the kid then call it a day no need to makes kids have meetings online
Mandy··
@dragontrainer1 yes it was my daughter's class meeting
DragonTrainer1··
yeah I would have been not today guys sorry
M_🖤·
Definitely C
And maybe if he can calm down have him return to the meet
Mandy··
Exactly
Amber ·
Yes, definitely C. If he calms let him return, if not then try next time.

For my work meetings it would be B. I always keep myself on mute to begin with as I have 2 dogs that bark at everything. I have been working from home for 2 years this month. I also only have my toddler but I wouldn't be doing computer meetings for any of my kids under the age of 8 at least. My nephew is 6 and doesn't do well. My friends kids 5, 4, and 3 they tried doing these meetings and it was mess and then my aunts girls that are under 10. It just seems to be the general consensus

@massgirl I definitely restrict technology by age. But between personal experience, the pediatricians and therapists I have dealt with all suggest limiting and really don't recommend learning on line long term. But I do get it sadly with this environment. My mom just took my nephew out of the public school setting for next year and plans to home school (he gets his social interaction from his cousins, siblings and friends). He doesn't sit still, he gets upset, the screen hurts his eyes and just it's a huge pain. And as respect parents should certainly mute the microphone at the least.
Mandy··
don't recommend learning online long term 😂😂😂. But yes for behavior and special education students it isn't recommended long term. I was referring to general education environments. I completely understand that it's hard to control five year old especially if they have behavior delays BUT it doesn't excuse the parents behavior in this situation. The teacher was yelling to turn off the mic, eventually have up and the lady could have cared less.

no that's not okay. I just don't get why they just don't start muted. My dad works from home and starts with sound and tells his boss he is going on mute. I do the same, my mom when she can get my nephew to participate starts with sound and goes to mute. It's just something most people I know do.
