scheduled an appointment for india tomorrow with the pediatrician. aside from no weight gain, she’s seemed relatively healthy but lately it seems like everything is going downhill. her poop is a strange texture, she’s constantly grunting and dry heaving/gagging, but doesn’t spit up. every feeding now seems to bring her pain. we’ve tried 3 different formulas in case she has an allergy but nothing is helping and she’s just getting worse. the dumb gastro specialist has rescheduled our appointment twice.

Definitely sounds like silent reflux, the gagging is because the milk is coming back up causing her to gag but then it goes back down, also her crying after feedings definitely is a indicator of silent reflux because the acid burns. She definitely needs medication. How many oz is she eating and how often? A lot of bad reflux cases the baby doesn’t eat a lot at feedings because the baby knows when they eat it’s going to hurt so that’s when the weight problem comes into play. A lot of reflux cases that are severe is poor weight gain. My sister went through the same situation as you right now her son will be 5 months on the 15th and he’s 13lbs and that’s with figuring out a solution her son was in the hospital for a week a ran a lot of test because he wasn’t gaining weight at all and started loosing weight. He’s on reflux medication, a thickener in his alimentum. Also for her having weird poops is there mucus or anything in it?

she eats about 3.5 oz (I can never get her to finish a 4oz bottle) every 3 hours. which is about the same amount she’s been eating since birth, occasionally i can throw in an extra bottle but for the most part she’s stuck on this schedule and won’t eat any more. hopefully her pediatrician will prescribe something tomorrow. it’s not mucus in her poop, it’s more like super oily.

Hmm weird I’ve dealt with reflux and my middle son has a dairy allergy. I would ask about medication until you can get into the GI doctor. Also my sisters son he also gets extra calories in his bottles so for 5oz bottles he gets 3 scoops of formula per dr orders. And she thickens it with thickener. I hope you get answers soon!
