As a child my grandparents were my safe place my forever happy zone. I lost my grandma over 20yrs ago part that world crumbled. Now I see my grandpa who's just letting himself go. Just got out of the hospital today from pancreatitis and is right back to eating junk food from the corner store. The way his house looks and smells it was a disgusting mess....he refuses to cook or clean for himself even when bought groceries or given a hot meal he will let his dog eat it. Part of the memories I held dear of my grandparents is now turned a bit darker and I don't know this man who I call grandpa anymore. It hurts I'm angry......and there is nothing we can do because he doesn't care enough to change. I'm not ok but I will have to be 😢☹#momlife #mixedemotions #memoriesoftimepassed

Pancreatitis is really rough. :( He sounds like he wouldn't have gone willingly, but assisted living like 10 years ago probably would have helped. I know it is hard, but just try to know that this man isn't the Grandpa you grew up with, he is a really sick, confused older man with a lot of issues going on.

The problem is he doesn't want to admit he can't live on his own and my mom doesn't have the heart to force him in a home. And since I am his granddaughter it isn't up to me cause as much as it hurts I would have. He had a really bad oxy and opioid addiction plus the constant taking of sleep aids then he had a stroke and was forced to stop all of that he still abuses sleep aids sadly and I'm sure other things make a me long for the simple days
