If my son wasn’t on the spectrum and I still lived in the Bay Area, he would be going to a private school similar to the public Montessori charter school he got into. However, private schools and children with disabilities don’t always mix. I’ve heard enough horror stories that I just found a really amazing district to move into and went with that.
I’m not sure where in CA you’re moving to, but our public district has TK available and if you go to your home school to register him with that IEP they still have to find him a placement.
It depends on so many factors. Private schools set their own rules and guidelines for the most part. Many teachers at private schools don't have the same education level as those in public school environments. At the same time classroom sizes are smaller so that's a plus. Personally I'm thinking of sending my daughter to a Montessori private school but there are SO many factors that go into it. I personally wouldn't go for one that is religion based.
We switched oldest from public to private and it was the best decision! My son is excelling at school with straight A’s. However my youngest has special needs so he is in public school because they service his needs better.

Idk I’m pretty on sided on this cuz private school is all I’ve ever known but def if u can afford it do it 🤷♀️
