What do y’all feed your 1 year old? My sons pediatrician is concerned with his weight and said to completely cut noodles and potatoes out of his diet.
When Zay was that age he ate everything! Indian, Cajun, Mexican...as long as it was food he wanted it! We let him eat with us. He had 12 teeth at his first birthday so we introduced protein too. He used to love steak nachos at 14 months! The one thing I did do was I didn’t let Zay try juice until he was 4.5. Now he’s barely interested in juice and has spit out soda when he sneaks to try someone else’s.
Now his diet is so limited that he was in eating therapy so he would become willing to try new things again. Diet is always a challenge!
Yeah he seems to want anything we have a never really doesn’t like something besides eggs. It was just a shock to me that the pedi said to limit his diet at 1 year old
Is he walking yet? He will slim down once he’s more mobile. You could also look at his milk and juice intake. Give him healthy foods and not so much high calorie drinks.
@2sweetie, oh I definitely don’t do that. He’s only had cake once and that was yesterday on his birthday lmao
@llcoolkay, that’s great! You will notice his weight gain slow down from age 1 to 2. In the first year they gain rapidly then they become little monkeys and don’t sit still and burn a lot of calories!
@2sweetie, that’s exactly what I thought lmao. I was just shocked his pedi even said anything because he never mentioned my daughters weight until she was 2
Mine loves yogurt, apple sauce, cheese, chicken nuggets/chicken fries, sweet potatoes, squash, raspberries, strawberries, pineapple, apples(cut in small pieces) hot dogs, macaroni, toast, p&j sandwiches, he’ll eat turkey once in a while along with ham, scramble eggs, any breakfast foods, granola bars, graham crackers etc. those are his go to foods. Basically anything we eat.
I haven’t tried too much meat yet, I’m just terrified of him choking. He loves apple sauce. Hates eggs lol. I haven’t tried peanut butter yet since he just turned 1 yesterday. His favorite is Mac n cheese.
@llcoolkay, Yes that was my fear too. I cut the foods up really tiny until he got used to it and confident with the food. He’s never alone when he’s eating.
@luvbeingamom18, same. I never leave him alone while eating. I’ll try some meats though
My DDs weighed between 20-24 pounds at 12-15 months. At 4 and 2 next month they are 45/28 respectively. They eat what we eat no matter what we are having. Spicy, regular, good food, great food, occasional junk food. The drs said my eldest was obese for awhile but then she got really active bc she learned how to walk, run, play, etc and hit a growth spurt. After that they never said anything. I always like to think of it as is my child active? If not that's a problem. Does my child get out of breath easily? If so that's a problem. But the weight itself doesn't bother me so long as they are active and healthy. I feel like by time they are two their height and weight should even out. If it doesn't then as a parent I need to put the brake on. It's not so much what we eat, but how much!!! During this situation with the C-19 we have been eating lesser sized portions and we are still doing great and my husband and I are seeing the benefit while still eating well. Hope this helps you know if your baby needs to have his diet changed.
@xryztalroze, I feel like I probably do over feed him 😑 he will make this screeching noise when he wants more so I just give him more until he stops. I’ll definitely watch his portions from now. I definitely know he needs to drink more water, he will only drink a little and then throw his cup lol
@llcoolkay The fact that you're able to speak so honestly tells me you're doing a great job and you can only get better from there. Smaller portions, more water, and please be very careful of juice and any other drinks. Milk and water are great. One thing noticed is that when we did introduce juice to our girls they wanted that more than water and we had to cut juice out except occasionally so they know that water is what we drink when we are thirsty. And we keep giving them water, water, water throughout the day. At a year it was 2-4 servings of milk, but now they get milk twice a day and water the rest of the time. Keep up the great job! You've got this!!!
@xryztalroze, awww thank you so much! I really appreciate that. Yeah I gave my daughter juice too early and that’s all she wanted but she’s much better now and mainly asks for water so I don’t plan on giving juice to my son.
Apples, watermelon, strawberries, oatmeal, celery, beans , spaghetti, rice , chicken and puffs. She pretty much eats whatever we do.
@dontblockmesis-imjustspeakingfacts, I’ll definitely start trying more lean meats and veggies. I’ve been too nervous to try meat
@amouryaya09, Okay I’ll do that. He hasn’t liked many veggies yet but I’ll keep trying
@llcoolkay, or maybe the noodles that are made of veggies. Hopefully he won’t know the difference!
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
