I think my daughter may be ready to start learning to read. I can tell she really wants to but I don't know what the next step is. she can identify letters both lower and upper case and in different fonts. she knows the sounds of each letter too. she knows to go from left to right. my mom taught her to sound out and spell her name which she is so proud about. I know she'll be so confident when she finally learns to read I'm just not sure how to get her to that point

Put post it notes on things in your house labeling what they are. “Chair” “table” etc

Focus on print awareness and phonological awareness next. Once she masters those you can move on to sight words.

is it wrong to be frustrated that my daughter acts like she can't do certain things with out my help. she plays dumb a lot and I wish I could be like no girl show what you know. she acts like she can't trace or match shapes so shes ask for "mommy finger" to help her so I barely hold her hand and she magically can do it but if I dont hold her hand she just scribbles and acts like she doesnt know the pic is how she traces when I'm "helping her" otherwise it'll just be scribbles all over the page

Will your Mom be in the delivery room? My mom made it sound like she was gonna be in the delivery room when I give birth, and quite frankly, I would just like it to be me and my fiancé. It's our first, and I want to share that special moment with just him. I don't want to hurt her feelings, and I know this is something she would really like to be a part of. 5 year old dd I'm getting very frustrated and don't know what to do. I've had her screened at a learning center where they did some testing for like an hour long. She had to get 3 wrong in a row before they stopped. Basically they said she screened at a 7-8 year old child. I can't get her to learn her letters. I've gotten so frustrated, I've put letters in the wall, she has them on a big mat where she can stand, I've gotten games for her, writing, reward games. And she still won't learn them. I notice she confuses the letters that sound the same like D,T,P, or S,X. Any advice? What else can I do?
