I’ve been thinking this for awhile. But I think Kyson has a hearing problem. At first I thought he was just ignoring me but I will tell him something 5x in front of his face and he still can’t hear me. I’ll call his name to the point of screaming it and he won’t hear me. But sometimes he’s fine and can hear. He’s never complained that the tv was to low (unless it really was) but he has complained the tv be to loud when it wasn’t. So idk any thoughts???

@kirsten2, I pestered my daughter’s pediatrician for months because I swore she had hearing problems. She’s always say “huh” or “what” even if we were right in front of her, she would act as if she never heard a thing if we were telling to do something/not to do something/etc. she would look directly at me sometimes and act like there wasn’t anything coming out of my mouth when I in fact was talking to her quite loudly sometimes lol. Sometimes she’d had zero problems hearing us and other times it was like I was repeating myself 10xs and having to get louder each time or something. Her Pedi finally referred us to an ENT and they did several different tests and she can hear perfectly she just chooses not to hear us sometimes. That’s literally what the specialist told us was that her hearing was absolutely perfect but she just doesn’t want to hear us 😂 (I’m not saying this is the case in your situation at all, just wanted to share my experience in hopes that it helps you feel less worried or such)

This is the tool he used for flushing my ears out, it didnt hurt, it actually felt really good lol I remember this because afterwards he gave me a plastic tongue stick that tasted like candy lol 😆

There could also be too much wax in his ears, when I was little my mom thought I had hearing problems too so she took me to the Ear, Nose & Throat DR. he looked in my ears and there ended up being more than enough wax in both my ears so he had to flush them out, hugeeee globs of wax came out, it was very weird being able to hear more clearly lol, i was 6 at the time

I noticed for a week I would call my two year olds name and he couldn't hear me. He had a bad ear infection. I would say something to him with my covered and then with my mouth uncovered. As long as he would look at me he knew what I was saying but when I covered my mouth he didn't. He's pretty prone to them. I hate it so much for him. He was on antibiotics for 20 days because they gave him the wrong dose. He's much better now and hearing very well.

It’s called selective hearing they hear what they want I use to think that about my oldest but she’s heard just fine 😂

Have you had his hearing checked? My daughter had a hearing test as part of her 4yr well check. She didn’t pass so we had to take her to an audiologist for a more in-depth screening. Bring it up to the pediatrician and request a hearing screening.

Thank you. Did she end up having some hearing loss? Like when u took her to the audiologist.

yes she does have mild messing loss but it’s hereditary and hasn’t had any impact on her daily life. We didn’t notice anything besides what we attributed to selective hearing and normal 3/4 year old behavior. Everything we mentioned to the doctor was normal behavior for her age and not the result of her hearing loss.

Tinnitus maybe? Would you be able to ask him if he has ringing or an odd noise he always hears?

@kirsten2 then id honestly assume hes a normal 5y, they get ak concentrated. Even myself i have the smallest hearing imparement barely noticeable really, but when im doing something even if i know someone's in the house, if the come up behind me and just start tslking or touch me i scream. He my just be very focused

ok thank you! Cuz it’s like he can hear well but sometimes it’s like OMG can u really not hear me! Especially when I’m calling his name. Like screaming it. But ur right maybe he just gets extra focused. His school never said anything about it.

When you're talking to him, is he paying attention to something else? Even something he is thinking about?

My daughter and I are both so hyperfocused on things when we are reading, watching TV, or deep in thought that the house could catch fire and we wouldn't notice. It drives my husband crazy.

I feel like he gets like that too where he’s super focused so that could be it. When I talk to him he’s definitely focused and looking at me. Idk if sometimes he’s focusing really hard or just listening. Sometimes he will be looking right at me and I’ll say something and he keeps saying what. Like how can u NOT hear me.

My nieces do this.

Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday…

Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no, his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me and did something else with an other girl.... and it's 10:51 am now and he hasn't texted me at all. and after he dropped me off I texted him saying what I felt and nothing. I don't know if I'm over reacting or what or what should i do. do i wait until he text me?
