Safe sleeping in crib? I’m scared to death she’s gonna roll over and not be able to breathe if she puts her face down. Last night she ended up rolling on her stomach with her head to the side so she could still breathe. Do I turn her over each time she does this or what should I do? This is honestly causing me anxiety because what if I’m asleep and she does this and cant roll her head back over?? most people are saying as long as she has started rolling over she should be able to roll back? What if she can’t though? With my son he was in a pack n play..

I’d put her in a smaller bed. She’ll be out of her sleepy newborn stage soon and will likely want to be cuddled when sleeping. Both of my babies were swaddled and slept in a rock n play. There’s no way they would’ve slept all night with their arms and legs flailing around in a giant crib! 😳

My oldest had to be swaddled and cuddled and slept in a smaller bed but my youngest has always had to be left to move about to sleep well. Isn't it funny how different we all are as babies? Even now at 4 and almost 2 they are the same way. My big girl will sleep cozy as a bug in a small place but her sister needs wide open places. I laugh sometimes when I note their differences. Oh our sweet babies!

Mama, speak with your ped to see what they think but mine has always told me that if my babies rolled over on their own to let them be so long as they were in a safe sleeping place. A crib with a firm mattress and only a fitted sheet is the best and that looks like what you have. Swaddling once they can roll over at any age adds risks because they may be able to flip over in it but not back over or be able to move enough to keep airways unobstructed. Personally I didn't sleep much for the first few months after each of my girls were born because of this same thing and my ped assured me they were safe each time I brought it up. She always told me to put them on their back each and every time but that if they rolled I was ok to let them stay how they were so long, as I stated above, they were on an appropriate sleep surface. Prayers for your wellness and baby's safety.

If she sleeps like that you just can’t fall asleep, because when my son sleep that way I just don’t sleep I just keep checking on him because he sleep longer when he is on his side or his tummy...

I can try but when she’s in a tight swaddle she doesn’t like her hands being held down she will try to break free or cry until she does.

@mandehhhx3, do not swaddle if she’s rolling!! That’s worse, then she really can’t roll back or pick up her head. They say- always put baby down on their back, if she rolls to her side or belly on her own it’s okay, you don’t have to roll her back every time as scary as it might be. My son did this too
