Im not gonna lie im terrified of this coronovirus... not for me but for my little boy.
We seem to catch all the coughs and colds going and its terrifying me how quickly the mortality rate is rising.
I dont want to shut us away but are playgroups and soft plays a big nono at the minute?
You’ve not been worried about the common flu before this coronavirus?
Before the hype of coronavirus. Common flu kills hundreds per year but that’s not in the news?

@jo.wilcox, I wasn’t stressed at all? I wasn’t in two minds. I just stated my partner suggest I keep Maya off but i want to keep her in school? Simple as that.
I’m worried about chicken pox’s since I’ve never had that before. But I still send her to school and nursery knowing her age is the prime time for chicken poxs etc.
@jo.wilcox, Not going to argue over this but text isn’t the best way to convey how people feel in general. But I looked back over what I said in my post. And none of it suggests I’m stressing or in two minds. As soon as my partner suggested it I said no to him because don’t want her missing out on important stuff at school especially if they’ve not closed her school or suggesting it themselves. 😅
I do believe we should be on some sort of lock down to avoid it spreading all over the place and causing panic. But who knows when that will happen. But as it stands the world is just going round and doesn’t look like the UK is really doing anything proactive. I’m not sure if the school the teacher was tested positive at is closed. But will look into it.
I’ve done my own research on this virus and have a friend that is a doctor and even she is saying for people to do research and not cause panic as that could potentially spread it further especially if people make a panic decision to travel.
Yeah and there isn’t a vaccine to lessen it.
A new strain which isn’t understood fully yet, scientists can’t even agree with how long it stays on a surface for.
Oh well because they are old and have underlying health problems it’s not a big deal? The death rate is higher for covid than it is for the flu.
I’m not disregarding the severity of this virus. It is serious. They could’ve been put on lockdown to avoid further spreading between people...which makes sense. And yeah I believe they should do it here. But who knows how long we have to wait for that to happen 😪

Yup it’s crazy! Although it’s caused stockpiling and makes things difficult for people that can’t afford to do it etc! Hand wash has gone up online! 😓
Just like the flu has different strains so does the coronavirus. The one that is out right now is a new strand.

yeah you can mix zoflora plus it smells much nicer than bleach! I think the key is in the washing it away. Just like our hands, soap to breakdown and then water to rinse the germs away. Xx
Soft play isn’t the most hygienic of places to begin with but as you say, your little one does tend to catch all the little bugs so I would probably avoid soft play. Don’t isolate yourself and give yourself cabin fever though! I’d still go to play group, just make sure to clean his hands throughout! :)
Yea... i used to be at the supermarket every day but im hardly there now too 😂 its hard because we can satatise and wash their hands but an example of playgroup last time "mummy im licking my hand" 😐😐 ughh x
I’m not sure how true it is but my dad told me the other day it doesn’t effect children under the age of 7... apparently it won’t show up in them it will just be like a common cold it’s more worrying for older people with health issues xx
I’m also worried for my boys too, mckenzie has a horrible cough now, and it just makes you think the worse with everything going on 😫
Charlies had the worst cough ive ever heard.. it started to clear and now has full on cold.
Im sick of it honestly..
I feel this country hasnt done enough and we will all be left to suffer the consequences if im honest!
Stock up on calpol hun ive heard even that is becoming hard to get and my local asda didnt have any! Xx

Sigh.
We have vaccines for influenza, this is a novel virus- new virus, we don’t know everything about it yet. We don’t have a vaccine. They don’t lock countries down for nothing.

Just saying though. Vaccines aren’t 100% either. Just because there’s a vaccine doesn’t mean it will stop you getting it. If you do get it... symptoms are just lessened.
It’s a new strain of coronavirus... I personally think it’s just got out of hand and caused a world panic. Keep up basic hygiene standards and it should be ok.
A 12 day old baby survived it? Without medication etc.
It’s mainly people with underlying health issues, people in their old age that have died from it.
A typical healthy person with average immune system should be able to recover from it unless there’s other complications

we will never know 🤷🏻♀️ I just don’t think you can say it’s all a big hype when the gov from other countries are locking them down.... if anything it’s worse than what we are being told.

I was surprised to see it was in my area? And I live close to that school the teacher tested positive at. But Maya is at another school... not that specific school. So unless they say publicly to pull kids from school I won’t do it 😊🤟🏼

you were stressed enough to make a point that you were in two minds as to whether to send her or not. If you weren’t stressed then you wouldn’t debate keeping her off at all, there would be no doubt just like when there are colds lingering around. But ok 😴
