Sooo just food for thought and a little TMI..
We live in a row home with one bathroom upstairs. I just drank my coffee and it hit me, I had to go !
I said to Bella (18m old) let’s go upstairs mommy has to go potty !
She didn’t budge ! So I picked her up and upstairs we went. With a newborn coming in March, I’m sitting on the toilet thinking what if I had my newborn just now ?
Do I carry them both upstairs ? We have a cat so i don’t think leaving the newborn in the swing would be okay ?
Get rid of the cat. They will sit on a newborns chest for warmth and smother them, you need to be able to separate them at all times your not awake and watching
What about a portable bassinet? That's what I plan on using when I have to use the bathroom/shower or do anything that's not in the same room as the baby. I did that with my other kids too.
I have 2 young daughters and my cat never once tried to smother them or even try to claw them if anything he keeps his distance
Forgive me but what is a row house
Attached homes! Most are known to be pretty narrow, we have finished basement, first floor then a second . All the row homes in our neighborhood are identical, but some have 2nd bathroom in basement
What about a bouncer? With my first born we had a small little bouncer that I would just bring in the bathroom with me. He just chilled.
I had a cat DS was a baby and he never once tried to smother him, pleas don’t listen to that comment.🤦🏻♀️
No of course not ! I wouldn’t think to leave him unattended anyway . But in a pinch i was like ugh getting Bella upstairs sometimes is a hassle !
My cat was afraid of the baby and didnt warm up to him until he was one.
Grey would pinch and pull at him (of course I talked to him about it and showed him how to properly love the cat) and even then didnt do anything to hurt him.
Bella goes after our cat too ! She likes to say “MEOW” and chase him. He has a cat tower so he usually hides up there and I don’t blame him 🤣
Take the cat into the room with you if you're that worried. None of my cats have laid on my daughters.
My cat never tried to hurt my son as a baby she watched him if he cried she came and let us know. Just keep an eye on the kitty.
I used a bounce seat I could move with me all over the house baby could sit in and it was light weight

They will not smother them. My cat didn't try laying on my youngest not one time. They should be monitored at all times anyways but that's with any animal.
Maybe invest in a baby carrier ?
@brianamestichelli
Like the one that goes on your body.
I used my wrap alot! It was so convenient especially since I was caring for other children!.
I would wrap her up. Do dishes. Fix meals. And use it when strollers wouldn't fit.
I used used a carrier for my youngest niece because she was very very colic, wanting to be held was the only thing that helped.
@raisinglittlegamers, I will def try it ! I had the other style carrier with all of the straps (not the silky body wrap) and I used it like twice with Bella . Having 2 kids I want to see how beneficial it will be
@brianamestichelli
I think the more kids you have the more beneficial. When my youngest got older. I would put her in a stroller then my niece in the carrier and we would go to the park.

@bodybycheetos for real the sister might hurt the baby it's all ridiculous lol
@maryfnpoppinsbitch, it’s called common sense but I guess you wouldn’t know anything about that.
