I used to have horrible anxiety. I have been free from it now for over 2years. I was such a perfectionist at everything, over calculating and thinking of things that need to happen months ahead! I used to try so hard to impress my husband, not that he pressured me to...every-time i entered into a retail store i panicked... so those are the kind of things that made me anxious. Like someone said in the comments,

1. I write things down (grocery, chores, goals, decor idea, everything). Really makes me feel calm. I can know whats missing without having to rethink all the time.

2. I pray. You may not be religious but any form of spiritual connection even if its just meditation would make a huge difference

3. I exercise, i release so much tension through cardio.

4. I have days in the week when i decide that whether the house is clean or not I’m taking a break today. i work full time but i behaved like an OCD person..i couldn’t stop cleaning my home. The orderliness calms me down but now i’m not overdoing it

5. I minimized screen time, having tv on all day or scrolling through my phone leave me feeling stressed and tense. Now i enjoy people around me, take walks outside more often. Remove alot of social media apps for my sanity, they were driving me bananas.

6. Ive learnt to accept help (used to want doing everything myself)

7. In this 2years i have had time to learn new skills, i now crotchet and started sewing.

I know i wrote a whole lot, but these is what helped me.. it took a while to make certain adjustments.

You and I are very similar. In the recent weeks, a lot has change in the home. I use to go out a lot with my toddler when my husband is working and my oldest is in school. My husband now works from home and I find myself being here simply because he’s here and I feel like it’s dumb to not cherish him being able to be around because so many don’t get that privilege so I try to keep myself busy with chores and such. Thank you for sharing your story. I’m guna give those things a try. And try to get back to how it was before. My therapist told me my mood flourishes when I’m around people, even if it’s just at the store. It helps my anxiety and sanity.

I’ve been dealing with this as well. My pain symptoms are chest pain, and clenched jaw. It got so bad I literally thought I was having a heart attack. I’m still trying to find ways to deal with it, sometimes I can just ignore my physical symptoms, but then others it’s all I can focus on and it makes me stress out even more. I’ve been reading a lot about meditating to see if that helps.

@lillylove, absolutely. Then I get to googling my symptoms and that makes it 100x worse. I’ve been to the ER like twice thinking I’m dying

@llcoolkay, same!!! I even had to have my husband or my mom take my phone away because I would end up on google. I’ve called my doctors advice nurses on a lot of occasions. I thought something was wrong with me.

@lillylove, yeah girl same here. Every time I’ve gone to the ER they tell me a muscle issue but I now it’s from stress

@lillylove, I do “weird” things but it’s helped a lot with my anxiety which causes really bad stress. When my anxiety is high I have almost all of the same physical feelings that you have! My favorite thing to do is find somewhere as quiet as possible (I know that’s hard sometimes with kids) but I do grounding. If you don’t really know what that is, you can find all kinds of info on Pinterest! I also pace like I’m trying to walk the floor up off my house 😂 and tap my fingers. It sounds really crazy but when I’m tapping my fingers or pacing, it’s like I’m distracting my mind from everything else.. also, LISTS! I make lists 24/7 it feels like lol. The concentration of all of the things you need to write helps too! Sometimes it’s grocery lists and then sometimes it’s just random lists like things I wanna do to the house, or stuff I want to buy, or places I’d like to go, etc. I honestly found most of my stuff on Pinterest because sometimes my anxiety meds just aren’t strong enough to keep my mind at ease lol sorry if this is really long and all over the place 😅

Are you sure we aren’t the same person? You sound just like me! Only difference is, I’m not on any meds. I have a problem with swallowing pills. Writing lists and doing things around the house helps. But when I run out of things to do I’m lost. I’ll look up heat grounding is. I try and take a moment alone when the kids are in bed and my husband is playing games. But it’s been harder recently because I’ve been going to bed early with the kids. A couple people told me they think I have the “period flu + my regular anxiety” mixed into one. I forgot to mention that I’m on my period and it makes everything 100x worse.

@lillylove, I honestly don’t know how I take mine because I have anxiety about medications like I don’t even take Tylenol unless I absolutely have to 😂 the grounding thing is probably one of my top favorites lol. And I’m worse on my period too!! Last week was mine and I swear I was a totally different person for those 5 days 😅 i hate that anybody else has to go through this kind of stuff but I must say, it is a little nice to actually be able to relate to others with it! None of my friends or family deal with anxiety or intense stress like this so I hear the whole “it’s all in your head” or “just don’t think about” way too much lol.

@mamallama2317, I heard a lot of that too. Even from my mom. Until my doctor and my old therapist explained it to her. I went YEARS thinking I was crazy. I’m glad I found this app because it’s so much easier to open up on here especially when there are so many who deal with the same thing.

I usually walk aimlessly around a grocery store for hours until I feel relaxed again.

@lillylove, I think you’re possibly more anxious because you are always doing so much and you most likely always thinking ahead. It can be a bit overwhelming. It happens to be like today. So usually when this happens I know it’s time for me to slow myself down and try to be in the present. Like tonight we had so much to do but we did nothing and decided to watch a movie.

@jmw24815, I forgot to mention I’m on my period too and with my BC , it makes my symptoms 100x worse. I’m sure that’s why it’s more intense this pass couple days. I’m trying to take it easy.

@lillylove, yeah it does but that mainly because of the hormonal imbalance. See if you still feel the same a few days after your period
