Some states are not fully equipped to handle snow. Here in VA roads can get very hazardous and for everyone’s safety they rather just cancel school. In my neighborhood they don’t clean the snow, we depend on those that have the big trucks to pat it down 😂😂😂.
Kentucky got 3 inches of ice then 8 inches of snow, 12 in some areas

We didn't get out of school until mid June that year. My electric was out for 2 weeks. Most people went back after a week but if your electric was out (like mine) you were excused the extra week.
KY is hit or miss with snow so we are never prepared. They order salt for like estimated snow, sometimes we don't have enough.
Like when Aubrey started preschool (2016)
We got 2ft of snow in March 🙃
But we didn't get any snow before that so we had all kinds of salt and she only missed like 3 days of school.
Well my kids have already missed at least a week since the year started.and my lil one already off on Friday so I be pissed. Like this Michigan suck it up shovel and order anow

My son hasn’t missed one day of school for snow. If we don’t get any storms this month he will be getting done school early this year

Shit even here in Florida they miss hella school talking about early Release they can’t go a whole month without these
