Help...I'm desperate. I've had a horrible respiratory virus for almost three weeks now.
I've been taking Mucinex extra strength for two weeks and it hasn't moved the congestion from my chest at all. I've been to the doctor who keeps saying to wait it out and drink fluids. I already do🙄 I can't sleep 😭. I take nightquil and as soon as it wears off I wake up coughing and can't breathe.
I've read up on essential oils but have no clue what I'm doing. I want to make a Vicks equivalent but with eucalyptus. I've read that it does wonders for drawing mucus from your chest.
Before anyone suggests it I can't take Sudafed or other congestion medicines due to daily medicine that I take that will react with Pseudoephedrine...please help I'm desperate. Any other suggestions will be taken also but I really want to try an essential oil rub because that's the only thing I haven't really tried. Can someone point me in the essential oils direction please 🙏😊
No doctor should let you have an upper respiratory issue for 2 weeks. If it isn't clearing up, I would go to a MinuteClinic or somewhere else for another opinion. I agree, that will turn into bronchitis or pneumo. You probably have so much inflammation that mucus is trapped.
Our family is just getting over a huge respiratory virus. I didn't take any meds. I slept with a cool mist humidifier running and by the next morning it really got all the mucus in my lungs moving and I was finally able to have productive coughs
3 weeks or more could be bronchitis or pneumonia
@massgirl, oh no! Really?!? I feel like you should get a second opinion.
@mswedes I think this post was a reality check. I'm going to go to urgent care tomorrow morning
Tons water, rest and maybe try a humidifier with vapor things.to put in it. Also respiratory virus.takes a long time to feel better
I've only ever had bacterial respiratory infections (fever, chills, etc) that I can get an antibiotic for. I had no clue they take longer when they're viral.
@massgirl it sucks. I have had it before. No fun. I hope you get better
Is the nighttime cough a tickle or a post nasal drip type thing? If an involuntary tickle type cough I once had a doctor recommended Benadryl for bedtime as it helps suppress the tickling sensation and it really did work. If it’s post nasal drip type of cough I would recommend doing sinus rinses to thin the mucous. I’m sorry I don’t know the appropriate makeup for an essential oil blend. You could probably benefit from an inhaler right now to help open your airways so that you can have a more productive cough and get that stuff out
I've been taking my Zyrtec regularly maybe I'll switch to Allegra. The cough at night is more like I feel pressure in my chest until it gets too heavy and then I can't breathe. During the day I sporadically got into coughing fits.
@massgirl, ugh sucks. I would ask doctor about an inhaler if you can. Your bronchial tubes (not sure if I’m referring the right things in the right way but hopefully you get the gist 😉) are probably pretty inflamed right now so they are not able to move as much mucous as you need them to. We have humidifiers that are also essential oil diffusers. Could you use something like that and put eucalyptus in it? I’ve also heard that hanging a eucalyptus clump in your shower helps open the airways
They have the vicks or zabrees baby chest rubs
I've tried Vicks and didn't seem to work. I looked at the zarbees and it didn't have a lot of eucalyptus in it.
@massgirl, I also keep a humidifier running in all the rooms of my house my room my girls room and the living room
@brenduhhh omg it's totally fine! I did too. I'll look into this stuff. Thanks!
If it’s been 3 weeks I’d seek a second opinion from another doctor. Hope you feel better soon.
That's what I'm thinking too but I literally have no other symptoms besides a dry cough during the day and nightly symptoms. I can steel feel pressure in my chest though 😫
Transgender children
So I just learned that in my kids school district (my kids aren't in school yet my oldest will be starting kindergarten next September) there are twin boys who identify as girls. They are 5 years old. What's your opinions on this matter given they are 5!!! I don't believe that at that age they really understand the whole thing. So the entire school had to take a course on how to handle transgender children. For example they can't say girls go this or boys do that. What are...
need suggestions....
So at work we have a drink thief. Any time we put a drink in the fridge it disappears. I swear I know who it is. So far he's taken drinks from everyone that works in the office, we even put a sign to not take anything you didn't pay for and wrote our names on the drinks. The person I think is taking them works out of the office so we never get to see who is drinking them.

Because I can't sit here and watch Bolt for the 8,000th time, let's take a trip down memory lane!

My husband and I aren’t exactly strangers when it comes to relationship challenges 💞. We have been together for 14 years and married for eight, so we’ve definitely gone through some growing pains as we navigated a long-distance relationship in college and our first year living together as a married 👫 couple.
But nothing has challenged our relationship quite like our first year as 👪 parents .
Before you have your first child, you have these grand ideas of what it will be like. There’s more slee...
