Hey ladies!🥰 I got told at my midwife appointment that baby’s head is about 1/5 engaged? Can anyone help me on what that

Awww!:) yeah I know the feeling! I’m 38 weeks and need to wait until Thursday to find out if I need to be induced ! Scary! But I would like to think his head was quite far down, if your little ones head is getting on there now :) x
@ellie.case1234 I noticed my baby turn around Christmas and midwife confirmed head down at 28 weeks but I only noticed in notes from 31 week apt the palpable bit I had to google it. Some babies engage early and others wait until labour starts I wouldn't read too much into how engaged they are I dont think it makes much difference to when labour starts. Oh wow 38 weeks definitely coming round soon for you x

It means you're deeply engaged! Baby's head is fully engaged in your pelvis. I was fully engaged with my third from 32 weeks but didn't give birth until 42+1 !
It could mean your labour would be quicker because baby is already in position xx

Usually midwives measure how much they can feel from baby's head over the pelvis and that would mean your little one is engaged. So they would write 1/5 meaning only 1 5th of baby's head can be felt over the pelvis.
They would write palpable by it.
I also know some midwives that do the opposite and measure how much is engaged. So 1/5 would mean just a little bit engaged xxx
@zainab.1995, well now I’m confused 😂 damn! All this time thinking his heads right down there.. I get shooting pains there quite regularly too ? So I am so confused aha x
My baby is 3/5 palpable (above pelvis felt) which means its 2/5 into the pelvis or engaged or atleast it was a week ago lol and back to back. Just get used to walking around with a waddle and a head pressing on your bladder cervix and pelvis I guess 🤣 33 weeks now and counting down till I can walk comfortably again and have my bubba in my arms x
