I know no doctor will let you go past 42 weeks but if you went over due or are over due how long would *you* wait until giving in to induction?

I still have 11 days so there’s still time. I am just wondering....I asked this on glow and baby center and some mommas said they wouldn’t even go past their due date because of the risks and that being induced is safer than going into labor naturally closer to 41/42 weeks. Please give me all the info.

My pregnancy has been perfect besides the pains lol which is to be expected. Most of y’all know this is my rainbow baby so I just worry, worry, worry.. I had my appointment yesterday and I go back the 27th (5 days before my due date).

I've never went past 39 weeks, but that's because my mother had a awful experience keeping me in till 42 weeks, it's a miracle I'm alive today, but of course she wasnt being monitored properly, if you want to go that far, go for it!!!

As long as everything is healthy they will let u go past. Not personally but read of prime going over 42w unless its not safe for done reason they will let u go till at least that.

Instead of replying to each individual comment.... My hopes for this pregnancy is to go into labor naturally rather than being induced...like some of the pp’s have said because due dates are more of an estimate rather than a set date. I guess reading some of the comments on the other apps have me freaking out because they’re talking about still birth and placenta breaking down after due date but I know that it’s not just an automatic thing the day after your due date (if that makes sense?). My only other concern about this is the closest hospital is over an hour away, just like my OB office. Her movements have slowed down but I think she’s just running out of room in here lol doctor does always talk about how he thinks she’s gonna be big which is okay, my son was 8lbs3oz. I just want to make the best decision for us :/ I’ll be exactly 42 weeks on my birthday/st pattys day

They only let me go a week over. I was supposed to be induced at 41+2 but went into labor on my own at 41w
The thing they're worried about is the life of the placenta and it hardening since that's what provides for the baby. My placenta was in bad shape when I had given birth.

I was 40+5 when I had my son, only because I went to L&D for decreased movements and they decided he needed to come out. I didn’t have an induction date set, I was willing to go to 42 weeks if everything was looking good with him. Due dates are just an approximation and the baby doesn’t suddenly become too big or unsafe to have after the due date. Your baby will be here before you know it! 😊

I went into labour naturally at 42+1. I went in to be induced at 42 weeks but because there were no beds i was not induced and laboured in a ward!
If you have no complications this pregnancy then why not ? You may be monitored more often though if you ask to continue to 42 weeks

I went a week overdue before my water broke and I delivered. I would’ve gone past 41w and gone in for daily non stress tests if that didn’t happen. People are too hung up on 40w being the magic number and treat their due date like an expiration date instead of an estimate.
