Unpopular opinion:
I don't like it when people refer to children as rainbow babies...it feels like it takes their identity away.
Before anyone says anything, my first pregnancy ended in miscarriage so...
You are definitely allowed to have your own opinion. I would never make my daughter not feel like her own “independent human”but for me, I definitely looked at it as she was a rainbow after the storm.
Every baby is a blessing regardless of what came before, after and with him/her ... I guess I feel like it's a new thing to follow because before rainbow baby there was no name for our losses . We just knew we were blessed with another chance to be a mother . Rainbow baby is like telling everyone something personal that happened to that mom and for everyone to know how special this baby is to her . Hey I guess this is my rainbow baby after how many losses and all my other girls are too .. I guess I can call them my pot of gold haha
In some Inuit cultures newborn babies are named after someone who has passed so that they can continue to live through them. I knew a woman who was named after her cousin who had passed and then had a relationship with those parents as well.
I don’t like the term rainbow baby either but I’ve never had a miscarriage and it’s not my place to criticize how moms feel about their losses, so I just don’t say anything at all.

@j.concepcion I am glad you found some comfort from your loss ❤
It has meaning behind it for some people. You can't really compare the death of a parent or a sibling to the death of a baby and then the joy after when you are gifted with another baby.
Idk, people grieve differently and if something like this makes them feel better then have at it.
Just my own take on it.
Whatever anyone wants to call them 🤷🏼♀️. It wasn’t a term I heard personally until recently.
To each their own. But I'm weird about a lot of terminology people use nowadays. Its like people are making up terms for everything. A cold could be a damn "journey" now and everyone is "triggered"...
I know I'm the odd one out
@two.tiny.texans there is a lot of terms and slang being used in our society today but in a lot of circumstances, like rainbow baby, it allows the person to cope with their reality better.
@massgirl i think that's what bugs me. My dad died in an accident when I was a kid and ever since then I've been super jaded about death. Like my dad is dead, that's the reality, don't sugarcoat it...but I'm definitely not hating on anyone or their coping mechanisms
Interesting. I say to each their own. It's not like they're calling the child a rainbow baby to their face habitually 🤷♀️
@bbgirlmama my point is that they won't be calling the kid that forever...like it won't be the nickname he uses on the first day of high school. If she wants to call him that now than clearly her wounds are still fresh.

How do you like your steak?

Does this look like a dog? If so, what kind? Someone posted it on a lost dog Facebook page and said that she is very skinny and looks like she's been on her own for a while. She kind of looks like a baby fox or coyote to me.
