Birth story:
On January 28th I had my 38 weeks high risk appointment. I did my nst and the high risk dr came in and said she wasn’t happy with the strip baby wasn’t reactive and she was sending me to be induced. I had a scheduled induction for Friday the 31st. Once I got to the hospital I was brought to my room. They hooked me up, checked me and I was 3cm dilated. They started pitocin at 2 and increased it by 2 every 30 mins. Once they maxed me out at 20 my contractions were about 1 min apart and in my back and hips. I was in a lot of pain and I went into it telling myself I was going to have a 3 unmedicated birth but if I needed the epidural I’d get it. I told my nurse my goal and my sister and friend knew as well. So when I told the nurse don’t listen to me and page the anesthesiologist she stalled me and told me I was doing great, why don’t we page the dr to get me checked. She came in and said I was a 6. At this point I’m zoned out. I can’t talk I’m using my hand to try and sign language even though I don’t know sign language. My sister is telling them what I’m thinking. The dr walks out the room and I tell my sister get the dr I need to push. She gets the dr back in the room in less than 3 mins. she checks me I’m a 7. I was able speak out “break my water now” she said if it’s safe I can. She puts her hand in me, breaks my water and will she is still feeling my cervix my body starts to push. She tells me not to push I still have some cervix left, I wave I can’t stop. My body is pushing. She said hold on I don’t have any of the staff in here, the bed isn’t broken down and I need you in stirrups Can I get you in stirrups to be safe. Baby slide out. I never pushed, my body did it all on its on. I was waving to her to catch my baby because I couldn’t talk. By the time the attending and staff got there baby is on me, I cut her cord , they get me in the stirrups to deliver my placenta. I did rip a little but she said she could stitch it or I could let it heal since is was small. I don’t her I’ll let it heal. Within 30 mins we were walking to our recovery room. We have been in here now for a little over 24 hours and we are all packed an just got our discharge papers to leave.
