So during all these doctors visits, our hospital stay and countless prescriptions at the pharmacy I learned that my sons father had terminated his and Noahs insurance. Which he’s responsible for all medical and insurance per court order. But since I’m the only one on all the pharmacy and hospital records I’m pretty sure I’m about to get slammed with a bunch of bills. I told him about what happened and he seemed “surprised”.. but what’s fishy is he had made a comment about 6m ago saying he wasn’t sure if he could keep affording their current insurance since he has child support and also has to take care of his other child. (Which I don’t believe is the reason) However he said he would notify me if he had to cancel and get new insurance or lower their plan, whatever may happen. Now all of a sudden bub’s insurance has been termed and it’s this huuge mystery 🙄 all I gotta say is I can’t afford these bills and I didn’t even do anything wrong so I feel like i shouldn’t be the one to need to figure it out and stress about it. But I also don’t fully trust his dad to take care of it! Ugh just add it to my list to currently stress about lol 😭🤦🏼‍♀️

Start putting his information down as the insurer. My ex husband has done this before and since I put him down as the insurer he received the bills and it was out of my hands.

As far as if you actually get bills in your name. He's still responsible for them since he was supposed to be carrying the insurance. Make a copy of them and then send them to him.

I'd contact the court if he is the one who is responsible for insurance. Most hospitals and doctors have financial programs for people with no insurance or low income. If you're under a certain income they'll even completely remove the bill. They're actually more willing to work with people on payments who don't have insurance than people who do. My husband was just injured earlier this year and had to be life lined and had emergency surgery. We've been dealing with medical bill after medical bill.

Also I could be wrong, but if he's the one responsible for insurance, i would think he'd need to be listed as the guarantor. Growing up my mom was responsible for insurance so of course she was the one listed as the guarantor so all bills went to her.
